Devoid of sentiments, I think this tweet doesn't explain a lot.

Firstly, there's a budget for the year. The FG has a particular number of Federal roads to fix in the year. If the Federal road in Abia is not captured for the year, and Otti does it, how exactly is he expecting them to refund him? I am asking oh. Pardon my ignorance. Maybe the condition was for him to wait till they capture it in another budget, or he can toll it to get his state funds immediately. But refunding when the road wasn't in the budget looks impossible to me.

If he did it and the road was in the budget, then the tweet is correct.

Secondly, I would like to know how many governors since 1999 ever fixed a Federal road, and how many was ever fixed. State roads wey dem never finish, na Federal road dem wan do? Obaseki even paid and fix a billboard, telling people that Benin to Sapele was a Federal road, not his responsibility.

But I agree with you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a disgrace. That one na sure 2 odds

Some governors in different states have fixed federal roads within their states in the past.

Wike fixed series of federal roads in Rivers state during his time s governor and he got reimbursed by Buhari's FG for some of them. I remember seeing Wike's full page advert in the papers thanking Buhari led government for reimbursement for some of the federal roads fixed by rivers state government. It made news headline then because Wike was a hardcore critic of Buhari's government.

I also know Ambode's government had some palliative repairs work done on Lagos-Apapa expressway ( a federal road) during his tenure as governor of Lagos state.

I think governors sometimes fix federal roads in their states just to alleviate the suffering of the people, but whether they will get reimbursement from FG for such intervention projects is not cast in stone at all. It's mostly the prerogative of the FG to decide if you will get reimbursement or not since no agreement was signed with you before embarking on such projects

I definitely know some governors fixed, but the tweet said OBJ, Yar Adua, and Buhari reimbursed governors.

The number of governors that fixed Federal roads since 1999 fit no reach 10 sef.

It's a good thing to fix oh. I'm not blaming Otti for what he did. I'm just saying that reimbursements can only happen with proper arrangements, and not immediately

The tweet is obviously agenda driven na, the guy no just cook the agenda well. That OBJ or Buhari reimbursed governors in the past does not necessarily mean Tinubu's government or the government after it would do so..... They could easily use paucity of funds as excuse why tbey won't be able to reimburse Otti and the excuse will pass.

Tinubu government can easily explain that their financial commitment to diffrent federal capital projects across the country would not allow for them ro have enough funds to reimburse Otti.

Methinks Otti should just move on, at least he didn't use his personal money for the project but public funds. The funds belongs to the state and the roads he constructed is for the benefit of the people. He shouldn't toll it as FG suggested lest the people who are struggling serious economic challenges still be forced to pay toll on roads that should be free. He should leave FG and their madnesss of tolling every road they manage to fix

God rest all the souls that have had to die because of the incompetence of APC and Nigerian policians in general.

So many persons that didn't need to die lose their lives daily because of politicians that just want to stack money they'd never get to spend.

People don't want for much, a simple organized country where rules count for something, that's enough to prevent needless deaths.

Will it be wrong to say that Nigeria as a state has failed?

A country where citizens cannot live is peace and practice their faith?

The government does nothing. Absolutely nothing. The president is only master strategizing about the next election.

Honestly, Some serious conversations needs to be have in this country about religious tolerance.

I mean a week ago Eid was celebrated peacefully in different parts of this country with Muslims doing the celebrations while the irreligious and adherants of other religions peacefully enjoying the holidays that came with the celebration in the Comfort of their homes.

Yesterday was Palm Sunday that precedes Easter and it ended with scores of christians getting massacred by Islamic Jihadists of fulani extraction in plataeu state who did that probably to score a point based on their religious fanaticsm.

It's not a one-off thing because during Christmas and Easter celebrations you either read of a truck running over procession of christians in Gombe or Bauchi state without much being done by government(both state and federal) to punish the perpetrators to prevent future occurrence.

As much as FG and their supporters want to deny religious persecution in this country, it is real based on the past evidences and this recent one. It is what it is. 😪

The loss of lives that has happened under this government is unprecedented. It just looks like the government has lost the plot and the people are left to their own devices to secure their safety. Traveling on federal roads across the country is 50/50 sef.

It just seem as if the government doesn't have a solution to what is currently happening in this country.

If they claim what is happening in the northeast is a fallout of what happened in Libya, how do they explain the middle belt?

This is by far the worst administration in our nation's history..Zero self awareness from top to bottom..Two bomb blasts in Maduigiri and a sitting president still traveled to the UK with both his NSA and minister of defence..

I'm very doubtful that he's even spent at least 5% of the energy he spends on politics in governance..

Master strategist oshi..

I think it the bikeman, he can't be speeding in such places even if the bus wasn't coming.
I see people saying the driver should have look at his side mirror but he might have abd the next seconds these werey pop out of nowhere

Everything is wrong with that video from start to finish. Only the person making the video is right grin

For me, I'll blame the Bus driver. He was clearly entering into the right lane, and he obviously didn't look at his mirror before turning.

Secondly, the bike man. No horn, and you're speeding

Lastly, the other bikes parked on the road. That is clearly a whole lane that these guys parked their bikes vertically. If those bikes were not parked there, the victim would have had enough space to overtake.

Everybody should be arrested in that video, except the lady making it

There's a lot wrong in the video.

1. The way bikemen casually parked on a major road like that (which I suspect to be an expressway) is a recipe for disaster. Someday a heavy-duty vehicle's brake may fail and it will clear all those mumu bike men parked by the roadside illegally.
Ideally law enforcement agents should regularly raid that spot to arrest all those bike men cos they can always cause accidents in that spot.

2. Most bike men like the one involved in the accident have zero knowledge of traffic laws. They just overtake anyhow expecting other road users to watch out for them. They are always overtaking at a high speed within the shortest time possible and always other road users zero time to react.

Sometimes when driving I will see one bike man overtaking from the right and another maluu overtaking from the left at the same time. So somehow, they expect you to be checking both side mirrors at the same time . grin

3. The korope drivers too are menace on the road. Some of them like that driver can stop to pick passenger anywhere on the expressway. I suspect the korope wanted to "shadow passengers " where those bike men were parked by the road side; that's the reason he swerved right the very moment the stewpiid bike tried overtake right from nowhere. I don't see any other reason for him to have swerved right while the road in from of him was free. I'm very sure he didn't engage his trafficator while making right (that is if any of his lights even work sef )

Wetin pain me pass, that mama sunking fan wey she dey carry go her shop to go enjoy, the bikeman and korope driver don use their recklessness damage am. The woman go dey look for money to buy another one now wey Adelabu no gree give everybody light. 💔

Omo!

We literally have the same thought process.

That particular bus stop need to be cleared cos more accidents will still happen there if those bike men continue to occupy a portion of the expressway.
