iamoyindamola:Most of those guys just get a friend or family member show them how to move a bike with a day or two. Then they get their own bikes and start riding just like that. The ones who are northerners buy their bikes from the north and travel down south with it in trailers. The southerners who ride are mostly artisans who abandoned their tailoring, vulcanizer, mechanic, barbing, welder, etc.) to ride bikes in order to make ends meet. Like the northerners too, they don't spend much time learning how to ride neither do they have anybody explain traffic rules to them. They always interpret what happens on the road in their own favor and would not hesitate to mob you if you are involved in an incident with them even when they are in the wrong. |

izzou:the fault first and foremost s our authorities who have refused to crack down hard on okada riders who insist on driving on expressway. i will not be looking out for an okada at that point as i am driving in to park. they have also allowed okada riders to be a law onto themselves with no conseqnces. it is fuuny as okada have ben banned up north lagos state messed up megaly when they started bulling and harassing gokada - which was providing a system where okada riders would have to be properly registered any one can jump on an okada today. i sometimes see people who look like they are 15 years or younger. and they have no license plates , so you have no means of identifying them. some riders dont even know teh road they are on. you will have to start directing them. and they will never take responsibility for an accident. unfortunately with our mercenary , predatory police, you are on your own if there is an accident. |

BlueRayDick:They are never wrong, see them already harassing the driver a d the occupants |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 11:04am On Mar 30 |
BlueRayDick:as an aside - it is not so much to make ends meet as it is a low barrier to entry - and a low barrier to quick but eventually plateaued income. |

GloriousGbola:This looks like ogun state, I hardly see okada in lagos road except in streets |

iamoyindamola:There's okada in Lagos even in places like VI; it's just that it's policemen (mopol ) and soldiers (awua) who ply those banned routes without any consequence. As we are speaking like this, If you go to CMS opposite that Anglican Church, you would see bikes asking if you are going to VI, Lekki or Ikoyi. Once you both agree on a fixed price, they will take you from there to any of the aforementioned axis. You will be surprised that not once will they be stopped by any law enforcement agents till you get to your destination. Dem go even drop you in front of the building you are going and nobody will accost them Na wetin person wey dey sneak out from Office to quickly attend job interviews dey use run am be that. ![]() |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:29am On Mar 30 |
GloriousGbola:For majority of them, it is actually about making ends meet. Look at tailoring for example, how many tailors actually do make ends meet sewing cloth in a place like let's say Ayobo where there are many competitors, no constant electricity, high shop rent and multiple council taxes/levies payable to Local Govt/LCDA? A young apprentice in his final year of apprenticeship has seen how his oga struggles to make ends meet despite having access to cheap/free labour (senior apprentice sew for him for free) ; it's only normal for him to look for how to make ends meet away from that tailoring once he does his "freedom ceremony " and receives his oga's blessings. Most likely he will sell the sewing machine his parents bought for him , source for bike and start "hustling" with the bike. You will see them at Ikeja-Along ferrying passengers through that Lagos Abeokuta expressway down to Abule Egba during rush hours in the evening. |

raumdeuter:Wow, wow wow. These are the kind of educational programs I love to watch, those boys are good both OAU and CU, but I think the guy Quayun is an alien , he shouldn't be paired with human being in order to have a fair chanlege 😂😂😂 I used to follow Cowbell maths quiz competitions for a while, though I’m not sure if they’re still doing it . I remember when some people even argue that the contestants must have seen the questions beforehand, simply because they couldn’t believe anyone could solve problems that quickly. |

BlueRayDick:my mechanic was complaining that no one wants to take the time to learn work which comes with an incubation period - when they can go out and start earning quick money sharp sharp on okada . this complaint goes back three or four years. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:46am On Mar 30 |
GloriousGbola:It's actually not easy spending as much as 5 years or more to learn a skill will be fetching you peanuts na. Most of the apprentice always size their ogas up to see the hand-to-mouth life they are living after years of practise and they decide that is not the life they want for themselves. If we don't have a system that recognizes and rewards skills of artisans on hourly rates/service charges, I'm afraid in the nearest future there will be scarcity of artisans in this country. |

GloriousGbola:Funniest thing I'll see today. You're actually very confused egbon. You're a Muslim yet forming woke online, I don't need to remind you what your religion does to LGBTQ people. Please read the room. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 12:35pm On Mar 30 |
Ellexy:interesting that you have been on this platform for over 10 years, interacted with multiple Muslims here and yet to this day expect that they think as a monolith. i guess it is true - you can try to take the bigot out of ignorance, but in the end you cant take ignorance out of the bigot. closed minded and smooth brained are you actually that simple minded? you dont see me as confused when i speak against the killing of Deborah, but you see me as confused when i talk about rights of unpopular minorities? hypocrite much? incidentally, the atiku we have criticized here also read the room and went silent over deborah. must everyone be craven and unwilling to speak up ? on an anonymous platform for that matter? what is the dislike of some close minded intolerant bigots going to do to me in real life? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 12:39pm On Mar 30 |
BlueRayDick:in the end okada and keke napep are also hand to mouth for 90% of them. they just have good starting income compared to other jobs , but no real progression after that. |

GloriousGbola: ![]() All these plenty explanations ko necesstri at all. It was Amoto I tagged, and from nowhere you jumped on the post talking nonsense about conservatives while forgetting you're living a glass house. That you choose to neglect what Islam does to LGBTQ is your problem not mine. If anything it makes you a very bad Muslim and full blown hypocrite. Trying to talk about bigotry when your religion literally stone gays to death. Lol |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 12:53pm On Mar 30 |
GloriousGbola:A serious okada rider will buy land, build house and pay his children's school fees from the business while a mechanic struggles to make ends meet year after year due to low patronage. Most of those okada riders that know what they are doing have sites in ogun state. Na the ones addicted to baba ijebu, have multiple women and drug/alcohol addiction go remain at same level without real progression after some years. Why do you think those guys buy another bike to continue hustle the very moment Lagos state govt task force seize their bike ? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ellexy: 12:58pm On Mar 30 |
iamoyindamola:Wetin be this abeg..... and the passenger the bike man was carrying was comfortable allowing him do that rubbish..... ![]() |

Meanwhile David Hundeyin is calling yesterday's Jos massacre a US and Israeli false flag operation. He said if their embassies in Nigeria are not closed down, these attacks will continue to happen. 🙆🙆 |

iamoyindamola:Even as a friend, life no get duplicate oo. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ellexy: 1:54pm On Mar 30 |
Ibime:Tbh this isn't about agenda and it was Amoto I tagged for a reason in the first place. But importantly, his liberalism as good as it may appear does not cancel how Islam addresses LGBTQ people. Truth is, professing Islam and wokeness at the same time is funny because both worldviews are diametrically opposed. I just find his liberalism amusing knowing fully well what Islam will do to his type where it is practised well. That's why I said he's either a very bad Muslim or a hypocrite. |
