i see you don't get it. Inflation affects the price of everything in an economy. When building materials go up, the monetary value of an existing hosue goes up. If he gives you his house based on "Jonathan price", he won't be able to pay his kids' school fees.

Just like you, that landlord is affected by the galloping inflation affecting prices of goods and services in the markets, and that house he built "since Obasanjo's era" might even be his only source of income.

So look past your haste to garner s*lly likes by understanding that his increments in rents have nothing to do with prices of rods and cement in different eras, but because your horrible government (which you may even be supporting) has made food items (and every other market items) overly expensive for everyone alike.

When I built that house, a bag of rice was less than 5k, a painter of garri was less than 300 provisions were cheaper. So do you expect me to charge what won't be able to afford the cost of these basic needs for myself and my family?

There is a new road construction close to the house
