I think people have to be smart about their environment, if you know your actions will provoke Riot why do it ? The Lebanese in Nigeria have never crowned a King in Nigeria, The indians in Nigeria have never crowned a King. The Chinese in Nigeria have never crowned a King.
Chinese people have Emperor and Indians Guru's. Apples and Oranges.

Did you watch the video of the coronation. When you do, come back and we can discuss.
What else are you even arguing about?

lol werey said ESN brutality. If you like, don't go and save Kwara from your adopted Fulani brothers. If you like, continue using IPOB as hope. East has returned to it's peaceful state. Continue living in the self-imposed mental imprisonment on Peter Obi. It's a pity and you need psychiatric.

You people, though fellow Nigerians, started this against the Igbos hence outsiders learnt from you. The Yorubas and Hausa/Fulanis have their obas and sarikis in the East yet we Igbos don't complain. You guys started the hatred first.
But no wahala,Igbos keep thriving, regardless
Just listen to yourself! What do you even mean by "You People"?!!

This is how you collectively stay indignant in folly steeped in misplaced hubris... Always playing the victim, acting like everything and everyone else is wrong, while you are always right.

Every state and every nation is wrong in demanding that you stay within the boundaries of their laws and customs, but you are right in flagrantly disregarding them.

There is a term to describe such overestimation of one's self worth or importance... I call it Delusion of grandeur.

You guys should have a word with yourselves... Life is not that hard.

I watched the video of the so called "coronation" and I watched the comments that came from the attendees as well and judge it as a group of local socio-cultural Igbos celebrating a very local event that wasn't intended to have the impact that it did but alas we live in the age of social media and people interpret what they see the way they want to.

This was the same reaction to a video of Chidinma Adetshina celebrating in a similar event hosted by a local group in which they hailed her as "ou"r daughter and the South Africans got agitated because she was supposedlly running for Ms. South Africa event.
^^^
In all things, obey the law.

If the event was just a celebration of culture, norms etc, there wouldn't have been any problem. But they decided on 'coronation' of a monarch - in a different country with its own customary traditions, customs, chiefs etc. SA laws have very clear rules on how local chiefs are coronated/crowned. For goodness sake, Nigeria also has similar laws. How did the promoters ever think that flouting SA laws on this was going to end well?

In the Chidinma case, the problem was the immigration wahala. Again, obey the law. If there wasn't any immigration issue to hold onto, those South Africans who didn't want her would only have grumbled a bit and the matter would have died there. Unfortunately, there was plenty to hold onto - and things ended the way they did for her.

The point made is there was a misinterpretation of an event that had no significance on the sovereignty or established Kingships in South Africa. A mistake in terms of cultural differences but none the less the "intent" was not Malicious.

The video I am speaking about concerning Chidinma occurred "prior" to any discoveries of an immigration violation so they are unrelated. THe anger showered towards her had nothing to do with her unknown status and more to do with her origins. I doubt if that lady had any idea about her real status, She would have contested in the first place knowing what the backlash would have been.

The point is the anger really has little to do with these events and more to do with the "perceived" and pent up notion that "these" foreigners are coming to invade and replace.

These frustrated xenophobes will be looking for every avenue to attack foreigners who have made something out of their lives while they lavish their time drinking and spreading HIV.
I blame the igbos for not respecting their selves and attracting jealousy by their excessive exhibitionism. They should know that people will always be jealous of the fact that they come into a strange land and make it while the locals look on.
Wisdom is profitable to direct. They should rethink this igwe rubbish in a strange land since it breeds jealousy and hatred amongst their host communities.

I disagree.

The event does have significance on the sovereignity or established kingships in SA. The South Africans have made it abundantly clear that it does.

'Igwe' and his men involved in this matter are not teenagers with zero life experience. They are established men who should have known better. Or they did know better but went ahead with it anyway.

There's no way Igwe's planning committe people didn't hear about the problems in Ghana over exactly the same issue. Surely they must have known there was a risk that this coronation would blow up in everyone's face - as it most certainly has.

You don't give people a rope to hang you.

If people dislike you, they dislike you. There isn't much you can do about that. What you (or your parents) don't do is give them the ammunition to deal with you legally. That's all there is to it.

There you go.

So if people know that South Africans (not all, by the way) have all this pent up anger, why would they easily provide an outlet for them to vent - through events like this coronation saga? undecided

So they sought approval from Ghanaian government too, because Ghanaians too never allowed such .
In the end what was the Ghanaian government position on the matter in line with their law?

That was not the point being made...the point is they are in different countries but lie low and conquer without showing themselves....in the UK they (Indians) control most of the Small Economic sectors...but you don't see them "Flexxing" or showing off unnecessarily just for the sake of it or to draw attention to themselves...same as what the Chinese do in African Countries like Nigeria or the US....They have their structures and still maintain their traditional hierarchy but they move in silence and are not loud about it....how they show off is flexing their financial power strategically and not drawing unnecessary attention to themselves as Immigrants....If only Nigerians can learn from this and know how to move when outside our shores instead of showing ourselves and ultimately being misunderstood (as our reputation preceeds us).

So where in the Video did they declare him King or did not clarify what they were doing had no indication of crowning a "king" in the video below

If you like tell SOuth Africans Nigerians were sent from heaven or charge every Nigerian 1 million rand to reside in SA. It will not make a difference.

I encourage them to leave there. Xenophobia does not need a reason .

So all the evidence given to you showing that the so called "controversy" was dealt with last week and therefore these riots are premised on false information does resonate with your 65 IQ level, Ba!

This is like government coming to debunk corruption is an evidence that they debunked even when it is obvious that they’re guilty .

The same Igbo king caused problem in Ghana.

Mr IQ , so are you saying each an every time government, police e.t.c debunks anything we should accept it or we should be doing it selectively?

Wordsmith!
Good try!!

I said 'you guys' because I sensed what part of Nigeria you hail from and it's 'you guys' from that part of Nigeria that have been kicking at and fighting anything Eze Ndi Igbo in your region. All for what? Fear of dominance or some other phobia of people who mean no harm other than having good intentions to develop your region?
Why we Africans fighting over absolute frivolities? We have Eze Ndi Igbo in China,Igwe in Malaysia, etc. These don't translate to wanting to take over, occupy or overthrow the government of those countries. No, they're merely rallying points for the Igbos! These nations I so mentioned are thriving economically. They don't bother with Igbo titles and positions in their respective countries.

But if you choose to keep fighting over mundane issues, it's your call, man, it's your call. Emir of Hausa in Aba or Oba of Yoruba in Onitsha means absolute nothing to an Igbo man because he doesn't see those ,stools' as threats to their own traditional Stool. We aren't petty. We aren't mundane. We're Igbos.

U are one of those igbo ppl that lack self-awareness, they already hate nigerians ,now you go and call ur self king in another land. Not only igbo ppl do even though they do it the most. other tribes too. why go and call them selves king in another person land. its can be misinterpreted as a takeover. same thing in ghana and every where.

They are already complaining you are taking their women. U go another person land you makemoney just dey do jeje or stay lowkey. Because those ppl will never be happy for you that you have succeeded where they have failed. Shey una no get sense. That is human nature.
