iamoyindamola:Yes , seems I’ve not been paying attention enough to know that the throttling I always experience close to expiration is usually as a result of crossing the 1TB fair usage policy threshold . I noticed it during the last two subs and can now confirm that once u reach the 1TB cap, u will experience terrible data speed that may not even work at all to download or upload . I guess it’s because in the last 2 months I’ve done more Netflix and prime streaming than in the past . So it was easier to hit the 1TB data cap |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 6:53am On Mar 31 |
izzou:Let’s not say in the world sha since na only Naija “unlimited “ data plan we don experience yet. Maybe people abroad may have experience real unlimited data sha . One can never tell . |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 7:06am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:I know it would look unlimited, but no businessman is just going to open the tap infinitely. If I was using your Airtel Unlimited, I would never get to 500GB sef, talk more of 1TB. Na because you reach there you come see say e no be unlimited. Every one has a cap. It might be so wide, that the probability of getting to it is very very low, but it cannot be unlimited My local thoughts oh ![]() |

https://www.cnet.com/home/internet/internet-data-caps-explained-avoid-extra-charges-and-make-most-of-your-internet-plan/ Most ISPs have a FUP (fair use policy) hidden behind their unlimited plan story. Unlimited plan is just marketing, just like their so called speeds. They always use MBPs to advertise but 20mbps is actually 2.5mb/s 1tb is not that much if you do a lot of streaming or gaming or if you have a family. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Bombblacks: 7:15am On Mar 31 |
izzou:It's worldwide. Every network has Fair Usage Policy after you exceed a specific high threshold. Unlimited data simply means you won't be cut off but it doesn't guarantee unlimited high speed. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 7:16am On Mar 31 |
izzou:To be fair , I never thought it would be possible to exhaust the 1TB data cap until now . In the past I used to download my movies and series with office WiFi which l later watch at my leisure time . But since I got the Airtel ODU which they call “unlimited “ I just stream movies directly from Netflix and Amazon prime, I stream YouTube live of my favorite radio and TV stations , when I’m home and use all social media apps indiscriminately without paying attention to the data consumed . I guess that throwing caution to the wind because one thinks it is “unlimited data sha” that always make one overshoot the data cap no matter how big it may be . |

Bombblacks:Alright then. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by iamoyindamola(m): 7:21am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:True nothing like unlimited per say But they really tried because 1tb is really big and fair |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Bombblacks: 7:21am On Mar 31 |
GloriousGbola:I don't think anyone considers 1tb much especially for a family. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:25am On Mar 31 |
Bombblacks:Call your isp to complain and they will start telling you differently. iamoyindamola:1tb is not that big. it is 33gb a day. your average AAA game is 90 to 100gb you have a console , that one can drop 20gb update without warning if you and madam and pikin are doing netflix that one can come to 10gb a day and if you have home office, it can be even more than this |

Roland17:Unfortunately this often reminds us daily that as mortals our time here on earth is limited and what we'll leave behind are memories when we were here. Please accept my condolences and I pray God gives you and your family the strength to bear this loss. May her gentle soul rest in peace. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 7:36am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:You are right. According to the minister of education they received 30,000 applications from 404 schools, from 30,000 applicants to 65 finalist to eventual 45 winners is a lot. Hopefully the next one cohort next year can be increased to like 100 students. Me personally I prefer this type of direct empowerment than sharing rice or one of those bogus money sharing scheme. I saw like 10 winners on X yesterday and you know that definitely that 50M is a life changing money for them and their startups. |

GloriousGbola:I use spectranet so i have unlimited night browsing while i use normal data for daily usage I have only reach 1tb twice, that is because of downloading COD and GOW, my point is average Nigerian can't reach 1tb monthly except you are into streaming or content creating. I can be on SM from morning till night and total usage will be 10gb |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Bombblacks: 7:43am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:Alternatively there's an Airtel fibre plan that's capped at 3TB fair usage policy. I think you should go for that but it's pretty restricted by location. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:45am On Mar 31 |
iamoyindamola:hopefully, their unlimited night is actually unlimited. i was using spectranet before, like 10 years ago - when i found they were throttling download speed during free night browsing period. i actually went to the office to complain and they told me flatly - yes we are doing this. during day i had normal speed, and at night serious throttling. They also set their night browsing in a very nasty way - from 1am to 7am . so you have to set your devices carefully, or wake up to imitate your downloads at 1am. once you are a heavy user, you will find that every isp has their own looong story behind their marketing |

Some Nigerian parents can be wicked with words to their kids. See that frame 1 I'm sure with that frame 2, she will be saying she's proud of him and always know he will win. Parents sha

izzou:i use airtel 5g router and i subscribe for the 20mb/s unlimited, i barely pass 500gb per month. sometimes to even dey stream or watch movie dey tire me sef. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:07am On Mar 31 |
iamoyindamola:Baba 1TB is not really big o. In my family for example, we have just two adults who use the internet; myself and my wife. My wife works from home while I go to work almost on a daily basis. When I'm home sef, I only do few official work from home and that doesn't consume much data. I understand that the netflix and other streaming services consume much data , the tiktok and other social media apps we connect on our mobile when at home consumes data too; but I wasn't expecting that an unlimited data package will reach fair usage policy limit with at least 14 days to renewal cycle. I mean I'm not even into content creation or any tech job that requires much data uploads , so how is it possible that one exhaust an "unlimited " data plan within 16 days of subscription? |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:10am On Mar 31 |
GloriousGbola:I don't even play games online and don't upload videos on Youtube sef. That 1TB cap is actually actually small. Aside streaming movies the few times Adelabu give us light and when we put on generator (Mostly between the hours of 7.30pm to 11pm ), I don't see what would warrant the data to get exhausted quickly. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:13am On Mar 31 |
larride:Yeah, I agree with you 100%. This kind of empowerment makes more sense than spending hundreds of millions ( and even billions sef) in sharing nonsense palliatives that won't last a month. Congratulations to the winners and hope they use the capital well so other smart chaps like them can be taken off the streets in years to come after their startups must have grown to be successive ventures. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Amigoos1: 8:15am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:Some of the data providers in Nigeria are criminals. They might show you have used a certain amount but the reality is very different. I have tested it out before. I did a one gig Airtel sub to download something of 500mb and you won't believe it finished before the download was even concluded. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:16am On Mar 31 |
Bombblacks:The location thingy is why I didn't get MTN fiber X and opted for airtel ODU. Those fiber plans , you must be living in an estate/area where the telecommunications company must have assume it will be profitable to bring their infrastructure down there. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by iamoyindamola(m): 8:17am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:Are you sure you didn't open your WiFi for others to connect? With all you listed I don't think it possible to reach 1tb in 14 days Highest resolution on Netflix is 4k which is 10-15mbps |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 8:18am On Mar 31 |
BlueRayDick:it is also possible someone is sharing your internet i have an app called glasswire for network monitoring. paid but the free toer may still work i use it to confirm all devices on the network if you install this you can confirm if there are any strangers you can also confirm your internet use years ago i stopped using the modems that come with airtel and co and started buying tp link desktop modem/router so i could monitor and control everyone's internet use. block websites from source, confirm just who used all teh ata and put data cap. doesnt work 101% because data tracking for users is lost during power outage

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Amigoos1: 8:18am On Mar 31 |
larride:Isn't that amount to big for just 45winners? What I mean is how about they decrease the amount while increasing the number of winners so more people can gain. Something like 20million per person and 120winners. |

In maybe 30-40 years now, these terrorists will now be claiming indigenous people.. Jihad is happening right before our eyes in 2026 mehn 🥺🥺
|
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:28am On Mar 31 |
iamoyindamola:No I did not. The only devices connected on the WIFI are my phone, my wife's phone, our PC's when we need to work, our smart TV and C-sat Decoder. My neighbors have their own passworded WIFI too and there's no how they would connect without me giving out the WIFI pass. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:29am On Mar 31 |
GloriousGbola:To the best of my knowledge, nobody is sharing the network with us. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:32am On Mar 31 |
Amigoos1:I don't think N20m will make any difference o. The N50m sef is just around $36,000 which is not a lot of money for a startup. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 8:33am On Mar 31 |
Amigoos1:Nigerians have complained this thing tire, seems NCC is in cahoots with the telecommunication companies on this scam. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Kikelomogbenga: 8:35am On Mar 31 |
Amigoos1:You could literally sub, not turn on your data for a week and the data will reduce. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 8:53am On Mar 31 |
Amigoos1:Dont forget that things are super expensive and the grant is to help the startups to have structure and grow. It's not too much, some are even saying the 50M is not enough. Let's hope the next cohort winners will be increased to 100 winners, the money shouldn't be a problem. |
