There should an independent warning alarm system which is not powered by electricity attached to lift in case there's power outage or technical fault or any other issues in order to safeguard the lives of its users.May God comfort his family and loved ones.

I always make use of staircase, which is even an exercise for me. No be me una go trap

As a Nigerian living in Nigeria there are some things you shouldn't do, entering lift is one of them....... Nigeria happened to him.

For 9ja, na stair case or nothing

I dunno why hotels or public places will use elevators without fail safe mechanisms that ensure users can still come out during power failure.....

Person get mind dey enter lift for most places in Naija?!!

How long was he trapped In the lift? which hotel in abuja? why is shehu sanni passing information like a level D influencer?

Several questions:
1) Was there an in-house operator
2) Was he the only one in the elevator?
3) If he's not the only one, what happened to the others?
4) Was any facility manager around?
5) Was there a CCTV camera installed inside the elevator.

I hope this is not a set-up to get rid of someone.

Probably poor power supply.

That's why I dread elevators, especially here where electricity is erratic.

Remember when I was stuck in an elevator with some people for just a few seconds, it seemed like an eternity!

Hotel built with electrical elevator should be modern enough to power up generator, immediately after power outage..

yeah you don't install lift if you don't have alternative power supply e.g solar or Generator only NEPA isn't tenable

I used to hear about 1004 and nitel building lift failures. I don't enter lifts because of that.

Negligence, carelessness. Nonchalancy.

Whether it was due to power interruption or Technical issues, a thorough investigation must be done to unravel the cause. Heads must roll.
I'm a local man. I haven't even seen a lift, elevator or escalator before except in movies. But I have heard a lot about these.

Anyway, lift isn't a big deal. We have in my place of work.
There is a Porter that is monitoring it incase someone got trapped. Beside, it has Solar or inverter backup that can still work for like 30mins should the main electricity cut off.

And if someone got trapped, the Porter will call people that would locate the position or floor of the lift and manually open the door.
All these aren't a big deal. But Nigeria just happened to the man.

You cant be that sure, you dont know how many minutes or hours he got trapped.
