A man has been apprehended at Ajah Market in Lagos after allegedly using a fake bank transfer alert to purchase meat from a local vendor.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect approached a meat seller at the busy market and selected portions of meat before claiming he had completed a bank transfer. However, the seller reportedly became suspicious when the payment did not reflect in their account after some time.

The situation quickly escalated when nearby traders intervened and confronted the man. It was gathered that upon further scrutiny, the transfer receipt presented by the suspect was discovered to be fake.

The suspect was subsequently detained by traders at the market before being handed over to security operatives for further investigation.

Incidents involving fake bank alerts have become a growing concern among small business owners in Lagos, with many calling for increased awareness and caution when accepting digital payments.

You will see the usual text message of your bank account being credited, but if you check your account balance, no money there. Your balance remains the same way it was before the fraudster came to you.

Hmmmm..... Thank you for some clarity, but no vex that I still want to ask one more question. The text that will be shown, how will the scammer already know your name, bank number and the amount that he will send the text. Cus according to what I have heard, it's a text msg they have already prepared down. They'll show you and you will think it has gone. Sorry for the disturbance
