This is not unique to only the people from the eastern part of Nigeria. The fact is that many Nigerians, especially the Ibos and the Yorubas, have a significant appreciation for titles and power, and they often like to display it.

Why will someone having make enough money, living in comfort and peace in other people's land now want a kingdom for himself and make himself a king when there's already traditionally recognized king in that foreign land. Royal blood is man made, some inherited from their forefathers, some choose to rotate their kingship from one family to another. In the case of ezeigbo it's just a social leadership structure among Igbos in diaspora, it's not a traditional heritage or recognized among Igbo traditional council, and there's no way they'd ever encroach their host's traditional stool.
