Once again, we are using oil money to decieve ourselves. So, when the oil prices inevitably crash, because no one is going to buy oil at over 100 dollars per barrel for the next ten years...it's a nice way of putting your economy into terminal comatose state if you don't produce oil, we would run out of money, and APC Is going to tell us another story. It's like we never learn in this country. OIl prices were high in the 1970's , and we used the money to lie to ourselves, until the great crash happened in October 82. Oil prices were high again from 2008-14, we once again used the money to decieve ourselves, until the Saudis decided to play chicken with the USA in 2014 March, and crash bang. And there was the oil boom of 1990-1. I don't know when we would learn that we cannot rely on oil. FOREVER. 9trillion won't even do much for eff's sake. Thatis why we are borrowing...and will borrow. APC Is a failed party, like PDP, and all the folk in ADC...because when you ask them about how they plan to get us off oil, they start singing a new song, and avoiding the answers. Eff, we don't have sense in this country. WAKE THE EFF UP...OIL CANNOT SUSTAIN US AT ALL. So, when the price crashes again soon, abi tinubu go take new loans? |

When u have leaders who do the following: 1. Insensitive to the problems of the people. 2. Deaf to the cries of its people. 3. Blind to the sufferings of the people. 4. Focussed on sharing the nations wealth. 5. Focused on Borrowing and more Borrowing without accountability. 6. Lie on camera repeatedly home and away. 7. Manufacturing fake figures to deceive it's people. 8. Control the Judiciary for its own purpose. 9. Control the Police for uts own use. 10. Control the Army for its own use. 11. Cover up corruption and more cover ups. 12. Heavy forgery and more forgery. 13. Shameless... 14. Recycling of old cargoes who encourage same above. 15. Who see a particular region as inconsequential... That country is doomed and will never do well. One day it will rise against itself and die a natural death. |

From what I see here, the biggest loser in this war is average Nigerians. Federal Government does not lose at all, politicians do not, they have rather gained, while Nigerians are struggling. No subsidy on oil, no subsidy on electricity, no food subsidy, no education subsidy, it is all man for himself. |

I can still pull out the old thread about why it's wrong for Nigerians to channel all their energy on the presidency while ignoring the lawmakers. Those who in favour, what was their justification? Who are those who opposed? If we channelled part of the energy on the presidency in our lawmakers who represents our constituency, as long as they are sound and vibrant, bills that are not making sense will always find it hard to scale through Unfortunately, our current lawmakers are rubber stamped. The yes Sir's lawmakers |

1 billion dollar for Lagos ports. 700 billion Naira for Lagos airport. 2 trillion for Lagos sectional of coastal road........ Lagos projects are ongoing with commendable pace unencumbered by finances. But critical projects in other regions are moving slowly. Shey Tinubu is thinks we are dunces? |

Eye what windfall? Windfall from crude oil that Buhari has already sold on forward contracts? What windfall exactly? We are eyeing a windfall, yet Tinubu is still borrowing $5bn, approved in less than 4 hours by his rubber-stamp senate? Windfall that if it comes (it's not coming), it would be stolen? What windfall are we talking about? Why do you think Dangote has to buy crude from Angola and the USA? Nigeria has no crude oil to sell. Nigeria can not benefit from this increase in crude prices. The government has sold everything. |

Tinubu's government is without empathy. It is clueless, inept, insensitive and without compass. All they know is to sniff out monies from any angle in the guise of loans and taxes then squander such monies with financial recklessness. Even Buhari the late buffon and terrorist sympathiser treated Nigeria better. |

The man no dey take eye see money or opportunity, he don jump on am, hence, the adjustment in the increase in the 2026 budget. Wicked prodigal! At the end of the day, he will still put all the blames and failure of his government on the US, Israel on one hand vs Iran war. Cheap excuses and blame games are his trademarks! |

It would make much more sense to retire existing debt and save the temporary oil revenue. Why keep borrowing from Western global banks with interest payments? Oga should know better than to consistently be in usury debt bondage. |

Having excess revenues doesn't necessarily warrant increased budgeting |
| Re: FG Eyes Oil Windfall To Fund N9tn Budget Gap by nairalanda1(m): 11:42am On Apr 01 |
VOsimhen144:The thing is, most nigerians did not protest in 2012, and most nigerians won't protest now, because of the experience of endsars. But either way, subsidy had to go in 2012. Anyone protesting then lacked knowledge of what was going on. Even Oshiomole, who was in tinubu's camp back then, didn't join his people for the protest because as a governor he had access to information that showed him that subsidy removal was needed. Plus one thing about your comment, it shows you supported subsidy removal back then, now you don't. Why? |

According to the article, and I quote below "The Federal Government’s share of the main revenue pool is projected at N21.62tn, while the revenue targets for tax and non-tax sources are N124.25tn and N845.98 bn, respectively". If the above is correct or I understand it correctly, why do we continue borrowing to fund our budget or meet shortfalls, and what happened to the same revenue targets from previous years? Me thinks the Nigerian budget system relies on some obsolete template where they just edit and input phantom and random numbers which they pluck from where the sun fails to shine. |

richiemcgold:1. You want food subsidy? You want to know what eventually happened the last time we had food subsidy? Queues for things like milk and sugar and even bread for eff's sake. It was lifted in 1985. 2. There is still an electricity subsidy, otherwise all of you would be paying between 250-300 naira per kwh/unit of power. As of now only Band A are not paying subsides 3. As for fuel subsidy, there is a reason why we don't have fuel subsidy. The time we had fuel subsidy, government was literally borrowing money to pay for the thing from around 2014 onwards. Plus massive smuggling made the amount spent even worse. We were taking money from other sectors to pay for the thing. Angola has a fuel subsidy. Angola also has 400 uncompleted projects because the money was diverted from them to pay for subsidy. Angola wants to get rid of subsidy eventually. This is not a defence of tinubu. At best, tinubu is to blame for not diversifying the economy which would have gotten us more and more money for at least some form of limited subsidy. |

Artiiclebeast:Note the use of the word 'target'. Bacially it is like me saying I hope to earn 200 billion this year, but then I have issues and by the end of the year I earn half of that. Note also that your government is still servicing debts from the past. Part of the revenue is going towards servicing that. |
