VOsimhen144:Petrol was #11 when Abacha was in power. In fact, it was #3.25 kobo in 1993 when Abacha took over before the price went up to #11 under the same Government yet Nigeria protested against the dictator. So because petrol was selling for #80 during Jonathan's regime we should fry stone? Same sh*t was 6 kobo under Gowon and 39 kobo under IBB. Nigeria didn't start to exist under Jona. |

And that’s how the much anticipated windfall from the middle-east war disappeared down the corruption ridden budgetary rabbit hole….never to be seen or accounted for again! Next years budget, they should equally pray another war kicks off somewhere else around the globe, so they can plug that years budget gap! |

dre11:A very pathetic country with no long term strategy or thinking. Sharing oil windfall since 1970s Udoji Awards with nothing to show. That was a time when countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia ect were using their money to build infastrcture for development but Nigeria was sharing money to civil servants to buy colour television, sound systems, cars and marry more wives. |

U09ce:Hehehehehe ![]() Surely you’re not surprised!? Someone shouting emilokan should have been a good indicator as to how divisive and sectional his gov’t would be!….It’s ‘their turn’! Remember he’s birds of the same feather with Buhari, and we equally saw how Buhari majorly favoured the north as against majorly disfavouring the south-east in particular! Remember how we woke up one morning and heard billions of dollars loans had been approved and gotten for AKK gas pipeline; brand new rail line to Maradi in Niger Republic; and heaven knows what else!….No discussion and no dilly-dallying like the decades long one we saw with 2nd Niger bridge! Billion dollar loans which all of us will be collared to pay back! This is what ‘one Nigeria’ means to certain groups of people! Later now, some will stand up to mock other regions and brag that they owe the rest of us fckall, and that whatever development you see in their region is all down to their ‘sophistry’ and ‘adept governance skills set’! ![]() |

Shey I told you folks. Revenue, earnings is not the problem. It is spending. Borrow all you like, tax all you like, cause world war 4 so that oil sells for 1 million dollars a barrel. If it is still put in the wicket basket called the Nigeria budget where three quarters go to recurrent expenditure and capital votes buy white elephants then nothing, absolutely NOTHING will change. This is more than a month of war, more than a month of elevated oil prices. Let us see what changes in Nigeria...my guess, practically nothing. The ECA the governors went to court to force Madam Ngozi and Mr. Jonathan to release to them, what happened. Today they are being accused of not being able to pay salaries back then. The subsidy money Mr. Tinubu is giving them today. Are they able to stay out of debt....no. Today the Legislature gave approval for more loans (in the midst of an oil windfall oh) and amongst other reasons (in small print), to REFINANCE (obviously previous loans). What is happening to the nations finances, Mr. President. What is happening..... |

amaridigital:Maybe by 2030 it should be ten thousand naira a litre by your drift. To see your country progressively deteriorate with escalating poverty and excuse it is a waste of citizenship. No offense but you need to to begin to think of the future and what kind of country you and I will leave for those after us. This bad state of the country should be unacceptable to all. |

mastermaestro:Yes and saying subsidy should have gone in 2012 makes me and gej tinubu supporters, as well as Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Sanusi Lamido Sanusi Seriously man, because I support subsidy removal does not make me a tinubu supporter. It makes me someone who has actually read about the thing and understands why. My eyes were opened in 2011. Them go never shut. Good afternoon. And be more mature. I thought you were better than this |

First give our local refineries all the crude oil they need for local PMS and diesel consumption at budget benchmark of $65 maybe plus a small margin. This will reduce price of fuel. We don't have to suffer irrational international price fluctuations from a conflict that doesn't concern us when we have both Crude and refinery. |

dre11:We can't eat our future. If oil prices are high use the money to fix things we need not nonsense subsidy noise everywhere..fix all roads with concrete, improve power transmission and force disco to also improve on distribution capacity. Invest in tech and human resources. Like they are giving 45m to start ups now, give more start up and let it be long term long not freebies. At least 10,000 start ups in real sector of the economy. And of course seriously invest in security architecture like drones and all to wipe out terrorists in bushes. Because that oil won't be high forever but if we have these things in place we can have a reasonable society. |
