They have been expecting America's stockpile to run out. But as it seems it won't, they don't have a choice. If Iran doesn't succumb by the deadline of April 6, it will go down with China.

I badly pity the Iranian people cos the next action will lead to massive suffering and death. Gulf states do not have drinking water. Their water comes from sea water that is desalinated. Those desalination plants are what Trump is going after. But let's not forget that Iran was the first to strike a desalination plants in this war.
Iran knows it is going down but it wants to take as many nations and people as it can with it.

Britain is about to convene a 34 nation meeting that includes Nigeria (and exempts the US), aimed towards finding political and diplomatic channels to discuss with Iran on the opening of the strait (post war).
