I need to get a used phone for a student whose phone got stolen. My budget is 30 to 40k. What phone with android 8 upwards, from 32gb rom, 2gb ram meets this requirement? Also, not huawei or oppo. Decent condition too, and legitimately acquired (cos I'll check)

I never knew oppo is a useless phone.
Imagine, i let a colleague talk me into porting from Redmi into Oppo.

I had to exempt huawei and oppo cos of their prevalent whatsapp issues. These brands aren't even recommended to use outside China, as they (huawei especially) doesn't support android in their newer phones. Always better to go with trusted brands like Samsung (S series, not A series) Apple or at least infinix itel tecno.

Why do you exclude Samsung A series from your list

I have used oppo f5 . Not bad except for the android 7. I was really tired of it.

But you said android 8. For me, it's still old and I don't know what makes it better than android 7

Yeah. I had to include android 8 cos I was hoping to get a cheap offer. 8 is quite old, but compared to 7, still gets support from most apps

I've used samsung a20s, samsung a03s, samsung a12, and a14. Right now, I'm using s10e and s24 ultra. Compared to brands like xiaomi, whose midrange still feels premium in few instances, a series lags, there is always a deliberate attempt to ruin the samsung experience so users can buy S series. My a20s started to lag and even restart on its own after i updated it to Android 11. People in samsung forums were complaining of samsung releasing updates to ruin their A series. It's crazy. If one wants to get a samsung, always best to go for the S series, or the fold. But I heard some newer A series are quite good these days, but the premium pricier A series tho
