El-Rufai’s Detention, Arraignment Politically Motivated – Atiku by SlavaUkraini(op): 7:02am On Apr 02
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the recent release of a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Nasir El-Rufai has shown that his detention is politically motivated.

The Department of State Services, DSS, on Wednesday took custody of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, at the Kaduna Federal High Court moments after proceedings at the Federal High Court in Kaduna.

El-Rufai is standing trial over alleged corruption levelled against him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC.

The court had adjourned the trial till April 14 for bail hearing but was subsequently arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS.

However, a statement by Atiku’s aide, Paul Ibe said: “After the failure of what they had thought was a gambit in temporarily releasing Mallam Nasir el-Rufai (and the cold shoulder they got trying to lobby him), they’ve now resorted to dragging him all over the place.

“By releasing @elrufai, they were only confirming what we’ve been saying: Mallam Nasir el-Rufai’s detention and arraignment is politically motivated.

“After all, they did not get the leave of the court before releasing him.

What is expected of them now, is to ensure the permanency of his release.

“As a citizen, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai is entitled to chart his own political course. That is the true essence of democracy.”

This man is beginning to sound silly and stupid.

El Rufai tapped Ribadu's line and it's a crime. It's funny how these old men scream foul when they are held accountable for their actions.

They are so used to anyhowness that being held accountable is alien to them. El Rufai made a mistake by admitting to such on live television, he doesn't own Nigeria.

Mallam you commit the crime you do the time.
Re: El-Rufai’s Detention, Arraignment Politically Motivated – Atiku by Solowande(m):
Denying bail to a figure like Mallam El-Rufai would not be just a legal matter, it would quickly become a high-stakes political issue with ripple effects across party unity, regional dynamics, judicial credibility, and national stability.
El-Rufai is a prominent and influential Northern figure with strong networks across northern Nigeria. Denying him bail could
deepen factional divides within the Northern bloc. It'll trigger elite infighting, especially among northern political blocs. Which might lead to loss of cohesion ahead of 2027 general election or major policy negotiations.
El-Rufai has considerable influence in northern Nigeria. Denial of bail may provoke backlash from northern political elites and voters.
It could strain the APC’s regional support base, especially if perceived as targeting northern leadership unfairly.
Major opposition parties like the ADC, could capitalize on the situation by portraying the APC led govt as killer of opposition voices and authoritarian. Which may strengthening their narrative ahead of 2027
The North don't forget. They will surely respond at the appropriate time .

what crime did El-Rufai committed?

El-Rufai has exposed that President Bola Tinubu's administration unconstitutionally deducts ₦100 billion monthly from the Federation Account, totaling approximately ₦1.5 trillion over 15 months.

You should be happy and thankful to El-Rufai that he exposed Tinupoo Thi€fery administration.. and he still has alot to expose na why they detain am.

the fg has shown now that they are afraid of the opposition , by arresting rufai and keeping in prison it is evident that they want to weaken the opposition and that even with 32 state governors , apc still feels threatened. it is better for fg to just keep him there till after elections because if he comes out he will make sure that apc has a lot to worry about .

Politically motivated or not, I like as them dey show the midget shege banza

He follow dey among the people that supported and worked for Tinubu's presidency, he even went head to head with Buhari then.

Buhari knew tinubu was going to be a calamity plus disaster, he subtly told us we would miss him when he's gone, sadly tinubu's three years is worse than the entire 8 years of Buhari.

As for El rufai, make Dem drag am like common kriminal

Is the case in court about tapping Ribadu's line?

I don't care a hoot about El-Rufai and Tinubu they are all birds of the same feathers.El-Rufai committed many atrocities in 8years as a governor in Kaduna State no one should drag us into a pity party with El-Rufai.

The way Nasir El-Rufai went after Bola Ahmed Tinubu after not being appointed made it seem very clear that he wanted to be arrested to gain sympathy from the masses.

He may have actually wanted this arrest, but I’m not sure if it is going according to his plans.
Re: El-Rufai’s Detention, Arraignment Politically Motivated – Atiku by Gr8mind07(m): 7:24am On Apr 02
But let us say the truth, this man was not arrested until he made that careless self confessional statement, a confession that is clearly an act of treason

There are so many people who should either be in jail now or on their way to jail. But because of their political leaning are walking free. Most of former governors deserve to be in jail.

If El Rufai didn't leave the APC would he face this persecution? That will give you your answer.

Tinubu knows to keep Elrufai illegally incarcerated before doing what he's currently doing with the INEC shenanigans. Love him or hate him, Elrufai is built for moments like these. Both in terms of his ability to mobilise the Northern populace with his messaging, his intellect and his local and international reach. Master Tragedist is scared of his own shadow. He doesn't trust his 36 state governors because he knows how he attracted them with threats and inducement.

Rubbish angry
So he should be granted bail by the presidency not the court so that it'll help them secure more northern votes? Some of boast before that El-Rufai is untouchable but are now wailing.

Don't mind all these politicians, what Elrufai did was too grievous, tapping a whole NSA of the country's call and still bold to say it on live TV? That's arrogance of the highest order

Baba Dubai Rest,I take God beg you!
If the govt did not released El-Rufai to burry his Mother, you will still talk that they are callous, abi?
It also shows that Federal Govt has 2- Forms of Law- one for the Politicians and another for the Masses - the Talakwas , because why should anyone being charged for committing the El-Rufai Kinds Of Atrocities Be Allowed to Still be Roaming About- ⁉️
Interestingly- this one that Nigerian Politicians are feeding on the frail of the Populace is still baffling 🥵
