Fresh Violence As Gunmen Kill Two Persons Near Plateau Polytechnic, Students Flee In Panic

Fear and confusion gripped residents of a community opposite the Plateau State Polytechnic late Wednesday night after suspected gunmen launched a deadly attack, killing two people and leaving others injured.

The attack, which occurred around 11pm in Ban community, sent shockwaves across the area as multiple gunshots forced residents — including students living off-campus — to flee for safety.

Sources told SaharaReporters that at least three persons were hit by bullets during the assault and were rushed to hospital for treatment, while two victims were confirmed dead.

The sudden eruption of violence triggered panic among students of the polytechnic, many of whom abandoned their lodges amid fears of further attacks.

It was a night of buzzing guns. These guys kept firing unchallenged for almost an hour. We had to find ways to escape,” said James Nanbut, a student of the institution.

In a related development, another deadly incident had occurred hours earlier in Riyom Local Government Area, further heightening tension across the region.

At about 8:15 p.m., gunmen reportedly ambushed a group of youths along the road between Baten village in Wereng Ward and Du’a village in Kwi Ward, killing 27-year-old Amos Monday.

The back-to-back attacks have raised fresh concerns about worsening insecurity in parts of Plateau State, particularly in Riyom, Jos South, and Barkin Ladi areas.

Rwang Tengwong, spokesperson of the Berom Youth Moulders, confirmed both incidents and urged residents to remain vigilant.

“We are calling on people in Kwi, Wereng, and neighbouring communities to stay alert and take necessary precautions,” he said.

Attempts to get official confirmation from the Plateau State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to its spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo, were not responded to as of press time.

Meanwhile, anxiety continues to mount among residents and students as uncertainty lingers over the security situation in the area.

A failed country indeed.
At least their governor has now decamped to APC, there won't be any 'State of emergency'.

Nigeria does not have a president, We only have a FIGUREHEAD mannequin in the presidential villa.

These jihadist should rest.... the truth is already in the open. The Palm Sunday massacre was part of ongoing religious genocide ... trying so hard to change the narrative to cult fight is of no use...

Okay... So, Plateau is the new theater of TERRORISM under the watch of APC?!!

I ask yet again...!

What exactly are Tinubu and APC campaigning on for 2027 reelection?!!

I mean... Jonathan's administration wasn't half as bad as this, yet we all agreed rightly that he had to go!

So, on what particular grounds should Tinubu even be seeking reelection?!! Seriously now.

This country should simply be dissolved.
Instead of this jokes, unseriousness, corruption and religious/ethnic sentiment that leads us nowhere.

I believe peaceful disintegration is the best.

What is all these killing for? After the killing what have they achieved.

I strongly suggest immediate disintegration.

I blame the youths for there docility, nonchalant lifestyle, frivolities and youthful tolerance to all these old fools that called themselves politicians. The average Nigerian youth is just a cheap data friendly wastage that adds no meaningfulness to the economy and politics at large.

No wonder buhari called the youths "lazy youths"

Yet some Muslims in Nigeria will say they don't want another country or body to help keep peace.

I wonder why they feel this government doesn't need help when it's clearly failed as far as security is concerned

Jos used to be a bubbling and lively location back then. I could remember years back when Super Eagles went for a training camp , I think it was late 90s. So peaceful, good weather and tourists were visiting like ravens.

Now, plateau state is now a shadow of itself.

Chai! E no go better for terrorists and their sponsors.

Jonathan's admin when bomb blasts were the order of the day,to the point that even the National police hq was hit, and abuja was at one point hit almost every now and then, banditry was live and direct, and we haven't forgotten Ombatse where 58 policemen were killed somewhere in Nassarawa, and also the good old boko haram was at one point running large swathes of the Northwest and beheading people left right and center. And the Chibok girls issue, which wasn't the only school invasion ..at least 2 boys schools were raided by Boko haram and nearly 90 boys were shot dead, and some students kidnapped. And the chibok girls were not the only ones kidnapped, we had thousands of girls kidnapped in the NE to serve as slaves for boko, ditto boys. And so on and so forth. And the hundereds who died when Boko shot dead people in the main Kano Mosque. And the church burnings, and the herdsmen crisis. And kindapping...live kidnapping. And the police chap who was dumping dead bodies of young men in the South east...Jona regime.

And don't anger me by saying i am defending tinubu. It is bad under tinubu..banditry has grown into Mafioso style levels, and kidnapping is worse, it was bad under Buhari (and Buhari made things worse by dismissing the foreign special forces from russia and south africa in the name of nationalism),I'm voting him out in 2027, I have never voted for him or buhari self, nor have I voted for PDP. But let us not pretend that things were better under GEJ.

What even pissed me off was the gej supporters online who were blaming everyone but the leadership for the problems. It was even so annoying that even trying to support jona then was difficult..when you heard someone saying that it was the fault of the Hausas not the government...the same playbook that tinubu supporters are using now. (Buhari supporters blamed America and the ZIonists). It's like people don't know in this country what a good government consists of which is why we accept mediocire government so long as na our brother...

And now we are about to have another 4 years of the same old mediocre government under APC. Not that the oppisiton is better.

Just in: A Rev Fr just got arrested in Jos for supplying arms to the bandit. I think something not very clear about Jos attack it look like a deliberate business to score some goals fr Rev Fr to be arrested over arm supplying to his fellow citizen killers.
