Unpaid Soldier Heads Home As His Twin Baby Dies, The Other Fighting For Life by nlfpmod(mod):
Unpaid Soldier Heads Home After 10 Months: One Twin Dead, the Other Fighting for Life – With Just ₦4,500

Post shared by Omar Zarma:

Upon my return to Abuja, I was parked by a soldier on duty who asked where I was heading, and I mentioned FCT. He politely asked if could lift one of his colleagues to Abuja, and I said it was fine.

When I was few meters close to Giri junction, I asked the officer his route, he was heading to Zuba while I was going through Lugbe axis to the town. I told him Zuba isn’t far. Transport is around 2-300 Naira.

I asked if he was going to stop there(Zuba), or he was heading somewhere. He then told me he was going home to see for the first time after 10 months, his newly born twins. No permission was granted over the period. Sadly, he had to make the compulsory trip because his wife had called that one of the babies had died. And she urged him to come see the other twin in case he will die too.

I asked him why he didn’t leave earlier than he left. He replied that he waited with the hope that salaries will be paid, since today is second, but it wasn’t, unfortunately. How then do you intend to make it, I asked him. He showed me all the money he had on him –4,500 which wasn’t even enough to get him to his destination.

I could not help than give him 20k and I took his phone number, giving him my words that I will call to get information about the sick baby.

I want to ask a question, please 🙏🏻
Are these the soldiers we expect to lay down their lives in our protection? You’re owing soldiers, and you want them to be effective while fighting insecurity?

Sadly, this is really laughable.

Allahumma bārik.

They owe soldier salary for months?
That is totally absurd and wicked.

Can anyone confirm this?

spiceadole:
Yes.
They owe soldiers and medical doctors for months . It's a "normal" thing in Nigeria
Doctors I know, but I always heard soldiers are paid promptly and it is only his last salary delayed. Someone has confirmed this to me in my mention. Maybe there is a problem with their payment system.

Politicians have destroyed the military ...... But I blame the military who still keep looking for excuses to remain subjugated and enslaved by the political class. Civilians are even better.... Something that was unheard of before.

My cousin took a loan, resigned from the army and ran to the uk with her husband and later cameback for her boys.. I saw pictures of her experiences in the bush and my, they're no different from these attackers because its kill or be killed. Her payslip was below 80k. That was before they stopped women soldiers from combat in 2015 or so. 74k for someone with ak47, grenades and powerful weapons? What a country..

I don’t believe this cook and bull story.

A soldier needing a lift will only need to wear his uniform and stand on the road , no need begging anyone.

That's the predicaments of many Nigerian soldiers, many of them situations are far worse than this. And the useless compromised government are busy sharing rice for campaign and romancing terrorists up and down. Very unfortunate.

The heartlessness of Nigerian govt officials towards her soldiers and indeed every nigerian is second to none.
Imagine a soldier, left his family, place at a very risky position of obvious death, could not see his kids, one died due to lack of quality medical care, the other sick, the meagre salary remains unpaid for 10 months, yet tinubu is making video call with his grandchildren in the comfort of his home after borrowing more than ₦43trn.

Soldiers that are meant to be paid tangibly and in advance of six months.
