The Nigerian military needs to start learning how to build those Iranian-style missiles and drones.

They are inexpensive, but can cause so much damage to any so-called superpower that tries to impose its will on us.

We also need to build those underground cities and storage areas like Iran, to keep the missiles safe from any stupid foreigners wanting to bomb them.

Iran has shown that you don't need a trillion dollar budget to defend your territory from these western bullies.

We need to build cruise missiles that can reach every European capital, plus America.

And of course some cooperation with Pakistan, India or China coud give us early nuclear weapons capability, just to top it all up.

God bless you. Let's start with producing things that can improve our living conditions and that can be exported to fetch us foreign exchange. Basic household gadgets, we are still struggling to produce, that one is talking about drones. Even as cheap as the Iranian drones are, it's too expensive for a nation like Nigeria (especially as you said we are not under threat of any major external aggression). $21,000 usd per drone for a country which more than 60% of its working population earns N100,000 ($65) or less per month.

If the technology used in the civil war was preserved and worked upon, we should have gone far.

Pakistan's GDP is $370 billion and Nigeria's is around $300 billion, with similar population, so....?

Also, no one is saying we should spend a huge amount of money on this.

Just a decent stockpile of long-range missiles to serve as a deterrent.

We should be able to develop some of these cutting edge things even without there being an immediate threat.

I agree with the Op whole heartedly. Though I know deep down within me that politics, tribalism and religion will not allow Nigeria to achieve something like this, I still like this idea. However, it is not possible for us to develop these kind of things without the knowledge of the bullies, and they will kill it before it even starts.

For those criticising that we need to crawl before running, do not forget that there was actually a time in this world that Nigeria was either the highest producer of aluminum or second largest to Russia. There was actually a time we used to have relatively stable electricity. But now where are we? You see, it is not as if Nigeria lacks the know-how to do so many things, the problem has always been tied to poor leadership which is driven by politics, tribalism and religion. And these leaders always use these things to keep the poor poorer so that we will not even have the time to think of higher things.

One of the reasons why we have so much debt hanging on our neck is because they don't want us to be self dependent, we can't have missile why America and other EU nations are still standing.
