One of my concerns too.
I saw a clip of police officers shooting at the helicopter with guns.
There's no reason why people around that country shouldn't be armed to the teeth, to deal with stuffs like that.

my own concern is the reaction time

the plane was shot down at night
they found the wreckage in daytime and didn't know about an ejection until they found the seat
that's when they started a search for the pilot/nav

this hours-long lag enabled the pilot to radio centcom and hike to an extraction point near the border where there was the least amount of ad coverage

on proper dispersion of arms

it is clear they are focusing resources on valuable targets
kharg island, chabahar, isfahan...
which is why i am concerned about diversions as opposed to head-on assaults
what they need, i think, is a small, extremely-mobile quick response force in each province
armed with essentials

the irgc ground chief has actually visited this khuzestan province at least twice during this war in person
so there is a contingent of the irgc and artesh around mostly focused on the borders and cities with gaps in between
but they need a small qrf of about a platoon as opposed to needing to mobilize a company/battalion in a sitch where there is a race against time

A bad day for the Yankees and their NVBs.

One fighter jet (likely a F-15E) was shot down.
One ground attack jet (A10) was shot down.
One helicopter (Pave hawk) was shot down.
Two additional helicopters were damaged.

The US has confirmed the fighter and ground attack jet (after Iran provided evidence of course).

They are yet to confirm the helicopter shoot down since Iran hasn’t provided evidence. But there are photos of a helicopter releasing smoke and falling to the ground.

Two US officials have also confirmed to news media that two helicopters were damaged but were able to fly out.

That said, the US isn’t flying deep into Iran. Their flights have been limited to the coastal and border areas in the western and southern parts of Iran.

As someone already pointed out, the area is a mountain range (the Zagros mountains) and US jets can risk flying into the area before the mountains if they fly low enough. Radars cannot penetrate mountains, which means the jets will be safe so far Iran doesn’t move air defense to the areas beyond the mountains and closer to border and coast.

My speculation is that Iran recently moved some air defense into the area beyond the mountains, which is why Iran is shooting all these down.

But that area is pretty much small and is a generally a flat land which offers very little opportunities for the air defense units to conceal their weapons. So the deployment is temporary and Iran will likely withdraw those air defense soon, if they haven’t done so already.

But rest assured the air defenses will keep returning every now and then to shoot down US jets and helicopters before retreating into the mountains. More missiles to Iran’s air defenses. More years to clowns and NVBs.

Its like when you are fighting a smaller fighter you thought you could punch into submision. You now strt carrying knife to stab him and he is still beating you. Everybody will just call you agbaya.

Trump's political career is dead and I think he knows it already. Netanyahu's destruction will be slower and more painful. His own people will eventually jail him.

The aircraft made it to Kuwait but crashed after the pilot ejected.

If Iran didn’t provide evidence of shooting the wack plane, they’d have said it crashed due to a mechanical issue.

that awacs plane they lost was the first loss in 40 years
the ec130 planes damaged were 2 of 3 in the entire inventory
yesterday was the worst day for their aviation in 50 years (since vietnam)

they had gotten used to fighting herders that they forgot what a proper conflict feels like
and iran is essentially fighting an asymmetric war
against china, they'd be losing these assets at an unprecedented pace hourly

BREAKING:

🇺🇸🇮🇷 A massive line of US Air Force C-17 transport aircraft is currently crossing the Atlantic toward the Middle East, alongside KC-135 refueling tankers.

A second wave is already over Europe heading for the eastern Mediterranean.

C-17s carry troops, armored vehicles and heavy equipment. This is the largest visible airlift movement since the war began.
