Mrs Favour Ayuba, the bereaved mother of late Promise, who was killed by suspected terrorists in Jos, Plateau State, has told her late son to avenge his death.

In a viral video seen by one of our correspondents on Friday, the woman, speaking in an emotion-laden voice, said she had not eaten since the Palm Sunday terror attack that claimed his life.

Mrs Ayuba was earlier seen in a viral video clip crying while clutching to the lifeless body of her son, who had been hit by terrorists’ bullets.

The latest violence in Plateau State occurred on March 29, Palm Sunday, in the Angwan Rukuba area of Jos North Local Government Area, where gunmen attacked residents, killing at least 24 people and leaving several others injured.

Speaking in Hausa, Mrs Ayuba brought out a cutlass wrapped in a white cloth, which she had hidden under her garment.

She placed it in her son’s coffin, as she sought vengeance.

She said, “If you want me to forget, baby, avenge your death. I carried you in my womb for nine months; you suckled at my breast. Baby, I trust you revenge for me, revenge for me. Please, wherever they are, follow them and avenge your death.”

Speaking amid intermittent sobbing in the background of the video, Mrs Ayuba made reference to the biblical story of Gideon, who went to war and returned victorious.

“Today (Thursday) is your birthday. I am grateful to God that today is your birthday, baby. You don’t like seeing me in tears, and I will not weep for you. Baby, I have not eaten since Sunday.

“I am begging you, because you have not warmed food for me to eat, but from today I promise you I will eat. I have a gift for you, baby. I trust you; I named you Promise Gideon Ayuba. Gideon in the Bible went to war and came back victorious,” she added.

This is how we bury people traditionally.

Christianity came with the preaching of forgiveness. Even when you have been hatched to death, Christian teaching says 'forgive'. Vengeance is of the Lord.

But can you really forgive? She has just buried, may be her only son, and you think she can just forgive the killer! Though time heals.

In traditional burial ceremonies, the elders would send the dead on a mission of mass destruction of his killers. When you witness this rituals, fear will make you never to support evil that could lead to the death of anyone, let alone participate in killing of any kind.

Courtesy and convention demands that the one paying the condolence visit goes to the house of the bereaved and not the bereaved going to meet the visitor somewhere.

Pantami and El Rufai should be suspected to be responsible for the terrorism happening in the North. I will say it and I will continue to say. Not until we hold people in government including politicians who by matter of their present and past utterances are held responsible as suspects things like this will continue unchallenged. We are chasing shadows because many of them including arrested terrorists and killer Fulani herdsmen were not prosecuted.
Those who were prosecuted are those who acted on self defense against them.

The Nigerian police need to do better why will bandits be on the tiktok, negotiate ransom with phones and they are not been located the kidnapers bandits and terrorist don't even look educated and sophisticated to use divices that can't be tracked intelligence is primarily the duty of the police then assisted by other agency and the military should provide fire power where the police is limited and assist in intelligence

People perish because of lack of knowledge. It's poverty that is fueling this believe. If the dead truly know something or the soul is powerful no one should be crying of hunger, our dead loved ones would have made life easier for the living. Unfortunately in situations were you see spirits of loved ones it's just demons impersonating that person
