Some Nigerians' entire perspective on their situation could change by simply moving to another state or starting a business in a neighboring country. |

That's why the country works. That money is what is used to provide it's citizens with excellent infrastructure - roads, hospitals, security, etc. Even the president and the rich folks in Nigeria leave the country when they need medical attention. There is a reason why they all have their kids studying abroad and try as much as possible to get their families passports from these countries. crossbreedwears: |

Wotowotoman:When Samuel Johnson lived in 16th century, London was the center of the world. Great Britain was the world power with a very large empire. Similar to what New York or Shanghai is today. Unfortunately, those are not true anymore. London is just an expensive financial city that is gloomy all the time. It’s no wonder they put so much effort to go colonize and live in other part of world. |

Bossman:True, that is tax dollars at work. But you're giving those countries too much credit and Nigeria not enough: 1. There's plenty of corruption in US/UK/CA/etc. 2. The reason Lagos doesn't look like NYC or London:

It's interesting people say these things when the 1% wants the entire world to look like Mumbai. The gap between rich and everyone else is getting wide everywhere. In the US they wrecked unions, the housing market, and put a massive dent in the job market. They literally tore down tons of housing and replaced it with highway and overpriced plastic crap. $500K plastic homes built for $30K. And the homes aren't close to any of the few jobs left. You have to piss away a chunk of your salary on a car just to get to work. And they're even trying to raise prices on the least desirable place to live in America; trailer parks. And they're doing this for trailer parks in the middle of nowhere. Those nice American jobs people talk about are being sent to China and Mexico. What they can't offshore, they're bringing in Indians, Mexicans, and Filipinos to do because they'll accept abuse, substandard living, and piss poor wages. That's tech, nursing, trades, trucking, and other jobs. Instead of Americans using their votes and pressing politicians, they're too busy fighting with other Americans over dumb shit and kissing the asses of the people screwing them over. But at least more Americans are forming unions. And some Nigerians need to stop raving about abroad. The US/UK/CA/AU look like that because they're STEALING YOUR MONEY and other people's money.

/ Apparently the only patriotic Nigerians are the ones who cannot afford to japa. It is a desperate patriotism without other options. Nobody plans to fix Nigeria. Everyone's plan is to run away. Sadly they carry their shenanigans to their host countries which shows that it is not the politicians afterall. The country is filled with criminal -minded fellas whose grudges are that they are not being invited into the looting class. / |

Assuming we have leaders who seems to jet out every now and them and see the way things are being done outside the shore of this country and are also ready to replicate that here many will not be queuing to leave this blessed country of ours but Africa with her huge human resources is under-utilized and the leadership are next to nothing... |

My quote should tell you that I refer to Lagos as the best in Nigeria. But anywhere in between Canada and UK is a better offer for me. I'm a Lagosian my origin, so why would I down talk Lagos. WorldRichest: |

......been there. Tasted both (UK & Canada). The truth is for younger once who are determine to make it in life and are not lazy, UK is better. Canada is equally good, if not for the cold and the limitation of jobs. But UK, like someone mentioned up there that you avoid big cities..I think is worth exploring for younger people between 20 - 35/40. And truly, these days, to secure a permanent resident paper, no he moinmoin ooo. If not for language barrier, there are more better countries in Europe than UK though. For me, I still prefer living in Europe than either America or Canada. Ire ooo |

theophorus:the Canada you are hyping, My bro recently got his Canadian Visa approved. He declined it. Cos he's waiting for his German Visa approval instead. From a stand point, if not for Cana, Canada and the UK ain't a place to migrate to. That's why the OP mentioned people moving from the former to the latter and vice versa |

miketayo:If a person earns high enough to be in the 56% bracket...they should also be smart enough to use the other means to reduce their tax...or just hire someone to file their taxes. Even at 300k per annum, only the last 70k falls under that range. |

ndidibabe:Lol.. because there are no old people here. Life expectancy in the UK is way higher than in Nigeria. There are many old people here and they are way healthier than those in Nigeria. You need to leave the shit hole ,even if it's just a visit to Europe.. Travelling is part of education. |
