The truth is that most people in Nigerian universities and most other higher institutions doing 2-5 years programs, have no business been there. An 8 months diploma/certificate or trade program would have suffice for their needs.

What you are referring to is not a Quadratic Curve.

In statistics, if you plot the scores gotten by 100 students against the frequency, you will get a curved chart, but that's not a Quadratic Curve.

Such curves depicting rising & falling trends are not Quadratic Curves.

Only very few people involved in Mathematical/Engineering Modelling & Design have actually used or applied Quadratic Curves in real life.
Which is an indication that several aspects of our educational curriculum are irrelevant in real life.

Sincerely, if I knew I was going to end up where I am today, I would have ditched the university and just climbed the ladder of internationally recognized certifications.

I can authoritatively say that, MY 5 years in the university was ABSOLUTE waste of time and resources.

On my first employment, I got nurtured like I never went to the university- they probably knew it was all bullshiit.

With my knowledge and experience, I can’t even attribute one knowledge to my university days. My primary school mathematics still had more impact.

These are the kinds of useless things that made us to believed that we are smart, until real life experiences hit us hard.

Yes! Everyday unknowingly. Like, when action bitter sachets was 150, I used to take 8 at a time. It became 2h I reduced to 4. Now 3h, I take zero or share 1. When you plot the graph it will appear like that

I taught my daughter who is in SSS 1 how to use broomstick to draw the curve.
Those days in secondary school I was an expert in drawing the curve.

Lol. You don't have to make use of everything you learn. Infact, it's impossible. If I remember, this method is one of the methods for solving quadratic equations. At least it has taught you some problem-solving skills i.e there are a thousand ways to bell a cat. So, when you encounter problem in life, don't necessarily stick to one solution, you're free to alternate.

On a more serious note, we tend to underrate the power of mathematics. Though I partially heap the blame on the way we were taught. Mathematics is actually the language of nature. You'd be amazed to see applications of mathematics in disciplines you've thought of. For example, do you know that mathematics is used to model the spread of epidemic like Corona virus? How it spreads and where it goes? Mathematics is the backbone of science. Do encourage/help your kids to learn it the practical way. Instead of just doing Area=length x breadth, get a tape and give them to measure a room and tell you the area. Then, show them how you can use that area to calculate the number of tiles that can fit the space. They'd never forget the concept.

At some point I might agree that no knowledge is wasted, but practically and holistically, my primary school education played more of a vital role. The mathematics and communication are still valid till today.
