rest bro. I don't think there's no other Africa country that's more insulted than Nigeria, yet, you don't see us doing such things to other Africans. We see such banters as online stuffs and most of them end up there. I simply believe and think south Africans are naturally hate-filled people who derive pleasure from hating on Nigerians.
Yall take it as “banter” because you don’t have a functioning immigration system. Sane countries will add you to their watchlist and wait. If you insult a country online, it makes no sense to still visit that country. Even if visa is free, nothing will ever make me go to South Africa.

I think South Africa should stop issuing visas to the Nigerian public so that both sides can have peace. It is clear the citizen of both countries dislike each other profoundly so just keep the cats out of the dogs reach.

And once again. Nigeria should develop it's own country. Look at the things you admire outside and fight for them back home.

If only the rule of law at our borders were this enforced for instance this country will have a whole heap of problems off her shoulders.
We agree.

Nigerians should stop attempting to enter South Africa.

I wrote this above: Is there a law in SA that makes it an offence to badmouth the Pretoria government? Or are they just copying Trumpian America?

You make a fair point. So it'd be interesting to see what this guy actually said - is it something capable of disrupting the peace (e.g., expressing HATE towards a group) or is it a simple opinion expressing his unhappiness about certain things the Pretoria government did? Were these border officials acting in the public interest of South Africa or were they just expressing some deep-seated anti-Nigeria feelings?

Personally, i have never expressed hate towards anyone. So if anytime I want to travel, I have to start racking my brain or checking my old posts for any criticism I made about an action taken by the president or government of the country I'm about to travel to, that'd be a very unpleasant situation. And it's something I'd always expected and would expect from a dictatorial country.
No.... there is no law in South Africa that makes it a crime to criticise the government. People criticise the government every day inside South Africa itself.

But entry into a country is not the same thing as freedom of speech inside that country. Foreign nationals do not have an automatic right of entry. Border officials everywhere in the world are allowed to consider behaviour, intent and risk when deciding whether to admit someone.

This is not a “dictatorship vs democracy” issue. Even strong democracies screen travellers based on prior conduct if it raises concerns about public order or social stability.

Also notice something important: if South Africa had acted outside the law, the Nigerian government would have protested. Instead, they advised their own citizens to make sure their applications were accurate and to comply with entry requirements.

So the question is not whether criticism is illegal. The question is whether immigration authorities can make decisions in the public interest at the border. In every sovereign country, including democracies, the answer is yes.

Your own government said " he made inflammatory remarks against the South African government " that says a lot about why they didn't fight against his removal from the country.

You must be a South African. It is understandable that you guys just love trending and wanting to be the topic for discussion.

Our problem with you guys is stop being miserable and Barbaric and try heal from your past wounds. If you guys don’t behave cruel with physical assault on your African brothers, no one will want to drag you all for it.

Your government is trying to take legal action on this now, what stops them on others?.

Must their citizens always act like wild animals? Taking the white man as their gods!
This response is exactly the problem.

You start by calling South Africans “barbaric” and “wild animals,” then in the same breath complain about cruelty and disrespect. That contradiction explains itself.

South Africa enforcing immigration law at a port of entry is not misery, it is sovereignty. And the fact that the government is handling the matter through legal channels actually proves institutions are working .... not failing.

Also, nobody is “dragging” South Africa into discussions. People keep bringing South Africa up because it remains one of the continent’s major economic destinations. Countries that are irrelevant don’t become the center of these debates.

If someone believes a country is cruel, barbaric and hates them, the logical question is simple: why keep travelling there?

Respect goes both ways. Insults don’t replace facts.

Always justifying evil. Are you denying that South Africans don't want Nigerians in their country, did South Africa not attack Nigerians recently? See wickedness. These men reported that they were even begging to be let in not like they are criminals but your heartless people continued their heartless none African behavior against fellow Africans who helped during apartheid instead if letting them in your country. Would you do that to white South Africans?
Oga they have said they do not want undesirables in their country, people that commit immigration fraud, that will claim they are comming for 2 weeks vacation and then stay indefinitely constituting a nuisance to their society. They do not want you living in their country trading illegally, or recourse to public funds they no want, how hard is it for Nigerians to understand that? Next thing is to say that we helped them fight apartheid, this is the same thing the Nigerian diplomat said to the protesters that visited our high commission in SA. One South African called him to order saying he should go to hell with that statement, that because naija supposedly helped them we should use it to blackmail them? He asked how many south African do you see comming to Nigeria to sell okirika, to sell drugs, commit crimes etc?
Nigerians will be here collecting rice and watching charlatan politicians destroy their country, they cannot fight back, but they will then carry their refugee head to south Africa to go and claim right they cannot claim in naija, to go and be a nuisance in another people's country. You claim to be smart, used the smartness to build your country!
If I want to visit South Africa tomorrow, I know I will not have a problem, because I will apply properly, make my tourism reservations in hotels etc, tops I send 10 days there and I am out of that country heading elsewhere. Tomorrow they will welcome me to come again, spend money in their economy and leave as stated in my visa application. That is how it should be.

Stop asking stupid questions. I should alert govt at 0.41am in the morninghuh Smh
And U that is asking, how many things have U reported to Nigerian govthuh How many did they answer Uhuh

The funny thing is that it was only black SA officials that were on duty. All of them black and they are the ones that hate Nigerians the most. Simply out of envy. But also the ones that beg Nigerians for money in the airports.
So now the story has changed again?

First it was “South Africa hates Nigerians.” Now it’s “black officials were jealous.” Tomorrow it will be something else.

Immigration decisions are made under law, not airport gossip and not late-night conspiracy theories about envy.

Also think about what you’re saying: you claim the same officials both “hate Nigerians the most” and at the same time “beg Nigerians for money.” Which one is it?

And bringing race into a routine port-of-entry decision just weakens your argument further. Border officials don’t stamp passports based on jealousy.

If there was no legal basis for refusal, your own government would have challenged it. They didn’t.

This is sounding less like evidence and more like frustration.

Nice work.. Keep doing violence to facts..
Let's see how that helps..
Even if this happened because of the Oba of Cape Town issue, you really do believe the real problem is that some Nigerians criticized "Igbos" online, not not the fact that some misguided Nigerians went to South Africa to be creating pseudomonarchies.

Well, I guess you're entitled to your facts and that helps.

No matter what international law says a government rises or falls on the will of the people. You only need to have sufficient numbers of people disliking a thing for th government to follow through.

The LGBTQ issue is a classic example of the interplay between people's of different cultures viz government. The West is largely tolerant and uses it's government to project that power. Africa is largely intolerant and no matter the carrots dangles before them, governments in Africa are resistant knowing the problems they face if they remotely consider it despite the fact that just a handful are democratic indeed.

What the SA government is doing has linkages to the sentiment of their people and will certainly not back any international law if this problem worsens. After all the fallout of breaking international laws it whatever will be borne by all citizens not just government or it's operatives.

And yes, Shagari did not act on his own violation. There was deep seated animosity towards Ghanians in the late 70's and early 80's. They were accused of undermining the economy by lowering wages, working harder for less (if you look at it that way) or being more productive and enterprising in business, in the domestic front and in certain.semi smiled and unskilled professions like teaching, craftsmanship, etc. Nigerians wanted them out.
I'm not saying governments don't bow to public pressure. I'm saying democratic countries follow the law – and they make only laws that respect human rights. If you act outside the law or pass hateful laws, you end up in human rights violation territory and you find your matter being tabled at UN commissions and every human rights group in the world protesting in front of your embassies. That's what happened with Myanmar. Down there, the people hate the Rohingya - and they know how to go about their hate. So the democratically elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi decided to do what the people want by buying into the hatred, thinking it will gain her more popularity and the army won't overthrow her again. Well, two things happened: she lost her international credibility (We're talking mountain-sized cred here because she's a Noble laureate) and the military still kicked her out.

Yeah. Yeah. I'd've given the same advice too. My people have a proverb that a man who is going to be eaten won't rob oil on himself and go sit near the fire. If you're in the crosshairs and minor discrepancies that would normally be waved can get you into trouble, you make darn well sure that your papers are spotless.

The one I'm concerned about and hope to find more information on is the issue of badmouthing the SA government.

Why travel to a place where they dont like you.
They repeatedly told you Nigerians that they dont like or want you why travel to their country.
Nawa o
I wonder o. I travel to places like North Africa, various parts of Europe and beyond. In my school days, while donating lunch money to ANC and seeing South African students on Nigerian scholarship at our local University, I yearned to visit SA one day when they become free of Apartheid. Now, I won't go if given a private jet. I wish them good luck.

Nigeria should issue regular travel warnings on South Africa. If it's not burning down shops of other Africans, killing Lucky Dube believing he was Nigerian, stopping people from accessing hospitals and vital services, wanton killings, it's scapegoating other Africans.

They learned hate, Apartheid tactics and xenophobia from their Boer masters very well.

So you’re old enough to remember donating lunch money during apartheid, but still online in 2026 sounding like an angry teenager blaming another country for everything.

If South Africa is that terrible, why not focus that same energy on building Nigeria into a place Nigerians don’t feel the need to leave in large numbers?

At some point Nigerians must start loving Nigeria more than they obsess over South Africa.

Complaining about another country for decades is not strategy. It’s avoidance.
Show all this love you claim to have over them to yourselves first. Your own country is bleeding week after week in extreme hate and violence but that one no concern and old hypocrite like yourself ,na South African matter they enter your heart shap shap grin grin grin
