One thing about is this: no matter your money, influence, political attainments, you will still kpai because you're a human being. He ran to Egypt for treatment because they have good medical facilities. If he has built one in his community, would he have ran to another man's country for treatment? No RIP to give..... If you like attack me I don't give a f**k. |

AngelicBeing:Several hopsitals have been upgraded by the government, eg the VAMED project by Obasanjo Akwa Ibom also built a quatenary hospital And so forth The problem is, it is one thing to build several world class hospital, another thing to keep them well maintained on a health care budget of 6 billion dollars tops. |

ufotunang:LOL...he probably went to a private hospital in Egypt. Egypt is 'better' in a way than NIgeria, but Egyptian doctors and nurses are badly paid. To the point that japa is a thing over there, especially to Saudi (which is just next door) and even the UK. Also, even if we fight corruption for nigeria, health budget never surpass 10 billion dollars, even 7 billion dollars self. EVEN if we eliminate corruption in NIgeria, that money cannot maintain 10 teaching hospitals at world class level...and I mean world class, not some politican painting up the place and buying a few modern beds. The problem is Nigeria is a poor country, and the poverty we have prevents most people from paying the kind of taxes and fees that would help the hospitals stay world class On this site, I have been shouting that we should vote out APC and replace it with a government that would encourage Nigeria to be a producer of manufactured goods and services for export. Yet, most of you continue to think that revenue from 1.7 million barrels per day go provide enough for 230 million people, provide world class hospitals and so forth...without taking on debt. Meanwhile UK NHS spends nearly 270 bn pounds annually, and is in debt , and has been in debt, to provide world class. Make we tell ourselves some truth, it is not just by voting out APC, it is also by making the changes we need to be in a postion we can be to build world class....AND ...maintain it. LIke now, some of you were rightly blasting Buhari for going to foreign hospital in UK. If they built that hospital in Nigeria, how many Nigerians can afford 1000 pounds per night admission fees? Yet na how that hospital stays world class..and e no be gofment hospital. |

| Re: Kebbi State Assembly Speaker Dies In Egyptt by nairalanda1(m): 10:39am On Apr 07 |
AngelicBeing:If they wanted to prirotise health to the point that we have world class everywhere, they would have to spend at least three times our current national budget to do so..if not more...just on healthcare. Just on healthcare. Note...three times our entire budget...not just healthcare. IMHO...we may probably need something like a health budget of 300 billion dollars to provide international level care in all our teaching hospitals, and in many of our secondary and primary care hospitals. If we had a not corrupt government(s) that had developed a diversifed industrial economy since 1960, instead of selling stuff and sharing money, we might have been there by now. You also have to spend far more on education, because you are going to have to train a massive number of medical personel, including doctors and nurses...which means a budget in the hundreds of billions of dollars again. |

nairalanda1:..if our government hospitals are not good for them.. what about the private hospitals in Nigeria..they are some private hospitals in Nigeria that are world class..they have standard mordern medical equipments and qualified medical doctors, nurses and personnel that can treat and provide quality medical treatment and services..why can't our politicians our private hospitals in Nigeria |
| Re: Kebbi State Assembly Speaker Dies In Egyptt by ajepako(f): 12:17pm On Apr 07 |
No RIP to give to politicians who dies abroad henceforth The poor masses who elected them have the right to excellent medical services and infrastructure too Any politicians who allows our health sector to rot/decay or fails to take care of our medical personnel thus forcing them to japa for better servcies , if such politicians then run abroad for medical services, karma would be waiting to deal with them! QED.. |

| Re: Kebbi State Assembly Speaker Dies In Egyptt by nairalanda1(m): 12:34pm On Apr 07 |
ufotunang:Well some politicans and PEP do stay in Nigeria (one governor even inisted on being taken to Cedarcrest hospital, abuja when he had an orthopedic problem due to car accident) At the same time, we don't have all that we need here, and all the specialists and people we need here, so referral. Even in developed countries, people go to other countries for medical care sometimes because cheaper, sometimes because even developed countries do not have all they need. Finally it's his money. He can spend it where he wants. Nigeria could pass laws banning care abroad for PEP...but that is going to lead to a connundrum that what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander...ie why should someone be stopped from going oversease....because he is in office. In a way it's not fair. And let's be frank here, making our leaders stay in Nigeria is not going to improve care overnight. Making our leaders develop the type of productive sane climes economy is going to do that.(And I don't see APC doing that, and ADC's programm appears to be vote for us because we are not APC, Not vote for us because we got a plan). Besides, there are efforts being made to create world class hospitals here in nigeria, eg the ACME In abuja. But those hospitals can run at high fees, meaning the masses won't be able to use them...which leads back to my original point in the paragraph above. |
