Political Defections Hit APC NNPP, PDP As Members Join ADC In Jigawa by Racoon(op): 4:10pm On Apr 08
A wave of defections has hit the All Progressives Congress, the New Nigeria People’s Party, and the Peoples Democratic Party in Jigawa State, as politicians and supporters defected to the African Democratic Congress.

On Sunday, Dutse, the Jigawa State capital witnessed a large turnout of supporters and politicians during a mass gathering to formally receive a two-term senator representing Jigawa South-West Senatorial District, Senator Sabo Nakudu, who joined the ADC alongside other defectors. Nakudu, accompanied by other politicians from across the state, was received by ADC leaders and supporters.

The former senator, who chaired the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) in the 9th Assembly, resigned from the APC on Friday and joined the ADC on Sunday.

Speaking after receiving his ADC membership card, Nakudu said, “I am grateful to my supporters for turning out en masse to receive me into my new party,” adding, “I promise to work towards a greater Jigawa and the country at large.”

Nakudu, who contested against Governor Umar Namadi during the 2023 APC governorship primaries, is expected to run for governor on the ADC platform in 2027.
Sources close to him said he has begun consultations with key stakeholders in the state.

Another prominent figure linked to the ADC is Aminu Ringim, a three-time governorship candidate in Jigawa State under the PDP (2015, 2019) and NNPP (2023).

Ringim, described as a protégé of former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, said he would soon formally join the ADC at a similar event in his hometown.

Also present at the event was Senator Ubale Shittu, a political figure who previously represented Jigawa North-East Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly on the PDP platform before later moving to the APC.

Earlier, the Jigawa State ADC coordinator, Ahmad Gumel, welcomed Nakudu and other defectors, describing the development as a boost to the party. He said the defections reflected the party’s growing popularity in the state and praised Nakudu’s experience as an asset.

Similarly, ADC chieftain Bashir Jumbo welcomed the new members, saying, “We pledge equal opportunities within the party structure.” He urged party members to work towards unity, adding, “We must take over power in 2027 by the grace of God.”

Reacting, the PDP Public Relations Officer in the state, Umar Kyari, dismissed the defections, saying they did not involve key members of the party. “They’re just a group of political jokers seeking relevance,” he told our correspondent via telephone on Monday.

Kyari challenged the ADC to test its popularity at the polls. “If they want to test their power, come out and contest — we’ll show them what politics is,” he said.

Also reacting, the APC spokesperson in the state, Bashir Kundu, downplayed the development, describing the defectors as driven by personal interests. “They’re chasing personal interests, not the public good,” he said.

Kundu added that Namadi’s performance would continue to attract support, expressing confidence that more politicians would join the APC.

“In politics, you relate with anyone and can be left by anyone,” he added. Efforts to obtain comments from the NNPP were unsuccessful, as calls to known contacts of party officials did not go through.

After the APC Congress, the kind defections that will hit the APC will be so alarming. I know Nigerians for sure, especially the disgruntled ones, and especially the ones who may feel like they were cheated,na those type go first cross-carpet leave APC.

Defection of a few out of the 200 million supporters of APC.

These are just the defection of the few who could not fit into the standard, knowledge base and qualifications of the APC.

We call them redundant legs within the party.

That’s is what makes the APC unique. Not all fits in. The standard and baseline is extremely high!

Not a hospice home like the ADC that fits every Tom, Dick and Harry.

All Badaru's men have decamped to the ADC despite Tinubu holding a last minute meeting to beg him. Tinubu has done every abracadabra known to man, including changing the electoral laws to criminalise defections and decriminalising crimes like certificate forgery and age falsification, but it has failed to slow down the coalition. This is happening in his very own backyard in the Southwest. 2027 will be beyond tribe, region, or religion. It will be a revolution at the ballot.

Perhaps another revolution is brewing up. The desperation is going to have many ripple effects given how irreconcilable fellas have been shove into political quagmire by Tinubu led APC. So defections would be the next thing.

Even genuine APC supporters who were previously looking for a competitive election to win fair and square are now concerned. One who is so desperate for power can certainly not want it for public good. Expect the mother of all anti-party in 2027.

This is what people dont know:

1. Tinubu won the presidential election in 2023 with the lease amount of votes anyone has used to win a presidential election since 1999 (8 million votes)

2. With his wrong policies and bad politics, hw has managed to unite all the opposition of 2023 into one political party. Together, their vites amounts 14 million. That's too much for a president to handle.

3. Realistically, the only way for Tinubu to win in 2027 is to ensure he runs solo. If not, HE WILL LOOSE.

And do you also know for sure what will happen with ADC after their primaries? Or is it just only the APC that will witness defections after primaries?

This action by the opposition will really put pressure on INEC . The message by the opposition' seems to be that INEC has no choice but to recognise ADC . Because if all or majority of Northern politicians keep going to one particular party , you can ignore such party or say that they can't participate in elections. This is a smart move by the opposition'

Like I said the other time, the former Minister of Defence, Badaru is having serious issues with his Governor-successor in the State.

He had a close-door meeting with Tinubu last week but it seems, terms were not properly agreed between himself and Namadi.

Politicians are very evil.
They'll be looking for where sentiment lies before the election and they will massively defect to the party.
2015, even without campaigning, if you're Sai BABA, you automatically win.
2023, even without campaigning, if you be Obi in some places, you automatically win.
Here we go with ADC in my dear north.

Which ADC?

Make I sit laugh in Chinese language kikikgagagaga
The one that Bala attended its inauguration before he was influenced to recant and revise his commitment to the salvation vehicle.

That ADC is the one.

REWIND: In July 2025, Nafiu Bala attended ADC unveiling of David Mark-led leadership

On July 2, 2025, Nafiu Bala, the factional acting national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was among the stakeholders who attended the party’s unveiling of the interim leadership of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

The event took place at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The event was attended by many politicians, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Peter Obi, 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP); Nasir el-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna; Rotimi Amaechi, former minister of transportation; Emeka Ihedioha, ex-deputy speaker of the house of representatives; and Ireti Kingibe, senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Others were John Oyegun, the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Abubakar Malami, the former attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice; Dino Melaye, former Kogi west senator; Solomon Dalung, former minister of sports; Aisha Yesufu, an activist; Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation magazine; Enyinnaya Abaribe, senator representing Abia south, and Gabriel Suswan, former governor of Benue.

At the event, Bala was introduced by Lauretta Onochie, former presidential aide, who co-moderated the programme, as the ADC deputy national chairman, intergovernmental affairs.

Gombe stood up from his seat to acknowledge the introduction.

The introduction can be viewed in the 14:03 section of a video posted by Symfoni on July 2, 2026

Tinubu may end up becoming the Premier of Lagos Province in 2027 if he insists on going ahead with his undemocratic behaviour. He who thinks he's leading and has no one following is only taking a walk.

The momentum and public sympathy for the Adc would have been too intimidating for those propping up the president to run as the sole candidate. They'd eventually have no option but to back down. Once that is done and we have a formidable opposition against this government....it would have been easier for the camel to pass thru the eye of the needle than for the APC to return to power in 2027.

You couldnt have put it any better. Eventually, the govt will buckle under the weight of the pressure from the mass migration to the adc. This is the very first time in recent history we're having a reverse migration to the supposed troubled party. It's also a public show of defiance to the authorities.
