This question lies at the core of the Christian faith and has been explored for generations: Is Jesus God, or is He the Son of God?

At first glance, the answer may seem complex - even contradictory - but it carries a deep and powerful meaning once you understand it.

Jesus as the Son of God

Throughout the Bible, Jesus is consistently described as the Son of God. At His baptism, a voice from heaven proclaims:

“This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17).

Jesus also spoke of God as His Father and regularly prayed to Him, revealing a genuine relationship between the Father and the Son.

However, calling Jesus the “Son of God” doesn’t mean He was created or inferior, like human relationships between fathers and sons. In the Jewish context, the title “Son” often meant sharing the same nature. This is why religious leaders were troubled when Jesus used it - they recognized that He was claiming equality with God (John 5:18).

Jesus as Fully God

At the same time, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus is divine. In John 1:1, it says:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

A few verses later, it becomes clear that this “Word” refers to Jesus.

Jesus demonstrated divine authority by forgiving sins, receiving worship, calming storms, and raising the dead - actions associated with God alone. He also declared:

“Before Abraham was born, I AM” (John 8:58), echoing God’s sacred name revealed in Exodus.

After His resurrection, Thomas addressed Him as “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28), and Jesus did not correct him.

Understanding Both Truths

Christian teaching explains this through the concept of the Trinity:

One God
Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

Jesus is not the Father, yet He fully shares in God’s divine nature. He is the eternal Son who took on human form to reveal God to humanity and bring salvation.

Why It Matters

If Jesus were only a moral teacher, His death would simply be a tragedy. But because He is God the Son, His sacrifice carries the power to forgive sins and offer eternal life.

At the heart of Christianity is this truth: God Himself entered human history to rescue humanity.

Jesus is a son of God as found in the Bible and just like the rest of us humans in a literal form. We're all children of God-both sons and daughters of God.
But somewhat Jesus is a SPECIAL kind of Son who came directly from God without the sin of Adam and need not any form of baptism unlike the rest of us.

2)Heavenly Beings--Their possessed abilities aren't usually associated directly with God's unique Almighty prowess, Authority and Power,like wielding a sword, appearance and disappearance of Angels, praise singing, messengers, etc

Yet
Jesus still possess unique Godly abilities only attributable to GOD: forgive sin, raise the dead, rose from the dead himself, conquered hell, can authoritatively answer ones prayer, calm storm, professes the Godly word "Before Abraham, I Am",
Only sinless human ever existed as confirmed in the Qur'an as well,etc..


I leave it as a Mystery of God's doings that can't be fully explained.

Another way one can look at it is,.
If a fellow human comes to say he is God, certainly no one will believe him. Because what humans will expect to see as a physical God is one malevolent giant whose head can touch the clouds and mighty feets crushing storey buildings, not a mere human being.

This is the reason why God himself in the form of a human will tell people that he is the son of God so that atleast, he will gain acceptance.
