izzou:There should be some level of professionalism in our work place, some employees have lackadaisical attitude . They may feel it's just sugar cane what's the noise about |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 9:29am On Apr 09 |
izzou:i think the issue they have is more about dirty workers who litter the area, allowing for rats , cockroaches and other vermin to multiply unfortunately, most of us as nigerians always take things too far until draconian measures are put in place. maybe they should put bins everywhere, though that may not make a difference. interestingly, a search shows the refinery is in tin can island. i had though maybe it was in one village somewhere |

BlueRayDick:well it is technically theft of company property |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 9:57am On Apr 09 |
GloriousGbola:Yeah I know, it's just that everything about the internal memo is funny ni. ![]() I may be wrong o, but I want to believe perhaps the workers don't get paid well enough; that's why they resort to eating the company's raw material for production to the extent it caught management's attention. Ideally no disciplined and well paid employees/workforce are expected to behave in such manner. It looks like an institutional problem . |

Quote of the day by Bill Gates: "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job, because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it" Do you agree with him? Even if i don’t, I doubt anyone would care to listen to my opinion. ![]()

joseph1832:He was excited and livestreaming their honeymoon in 2017, and he ended it immediately. No comment about it by either. Now tell me when Banky W, Johnny Drille and Bez have been mentioned anywhere insulting people, wading into scandals or starting one. I know my people. Classy, civil, easygoing and only about spreading love. Throw in Nonso Amadi to the mix of my people. I remembered him because I'm listening to "Aika" now. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 10:30am On Apr 09 |
MorataFC:it apparently is not a real quote - but it is very true imho. a 'lazy' guy, ironically, would put energy into finding a way to automate the job not really a lazy guy per say, but a person who wants a more efficient way of doing a monotonous, repetitive task your average nigerian would not like this because a lot of us like 'visual' work - where people see you burning energy and hail you like when a boss years ago wanted us to copy a manual word for word and i was sure it could just be scanned but he wouldn't hear of it. typing out a 200 page manual was his idea of hard work |

BlueRayDick:as a former employee - being paid well with good package does not stop people from stealing at all levels from ceo to cleaner. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 10:56am On Apr 09 |
GloriousGbola:We are talking about sugar cane here baba! Sugar cane being pilfered by not one, not two , and even not three employees to the extent HR had to write internal memo. 😲 You want to tell me the perpetrators are being paid well and they chose to be taking their company's raw materials without authorization for their consumption? I doubt o |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 11:05am On Apr 09 |
BlueRayDick:i am saying i have seen ceos with massive packages, managers with big packages , executives with big packages stealing. sometimes with pen, sometimes with insider knowledge - while blowing company policy in your face during town hall meeting. 90% of your fights will be because you are inadvertently putting your hand to bloc an ogas chopping while thinking you are doing your job. i have seen well remunerated managers cost the company 100s of millions because of they were stealing on project. i have seen senior managers covered up by ogas to the highest level while setting up low cadre workers as the fall guys. i have seen ogs write off company assets so they can buy for themselves there is no limit to human greed. especially if you can dress it up in corporatese |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:27am On Apr 09 |
GloriousGbola:You are missing the point here. I'm not saying you haven't seen CEOs stealing pens or moving funds by virtue of the position they occupy . The question is : what are the odds that a major number of employees in a sugar refinery will be eating their organization's raw materials (sugar cane) to the extent that it caught management's attention and they had to put a memo out on it threatening to prosecute them. A couple of weeks ago my spouse bought two long sugar cane for N500. That is how cheap it is o. It just looks somehow that the employees will decide to go full unprofessional to steal something as cheap as that if we are to assume they are being well paid. I said I may be wrong o; I am guessing the employees doing that probably think if they cannot get the full compensation package they deserve, then maybe they can eat as many sugar cane as they can in protest to management. |

GloriousGbola:Gbam Almost every Nigerian has this kind of mindset, especially among my people, that says, “Ibi tí a tí ṣiṣẹ́, la tí ń jẹ” ( meaning “Where you work is where you eat” though that’s not the best translation, maybe someone can help) 😂 On our farm, in the layers section, some boys started bringing boiling rings to work. (Women don’t have this kind of heart.) They would pack eggs into a bucket, plug it in, and boom, freshly boiled eggs at the workplace. Some were eating 12, 15, or even more eggs daily. We knew, but catching them was another story. We even hired a nutritionist to lecture them on how too many eggs could be dangerous to their health. Did it work? It was like adding petrol to fire, the egg count doubled. So we had to take a more drastic measure, we removed all the electrical sockets in the pens. Now, anyone who wants to charge a phone or device has to go to the office. But humans are humans. They found another way. Now the rule is simple, if you’re caught, you’re out. Truth is, you can’t eradicate it completely, but you can only minimize it. This happens in every sector, even in pastorates, missionary work, or seminary schools. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 12:13pm On Apr 09 |
MorataFC:A person without the background story will say you are wicked and selfish for preventing them from charging phones. It is actually disturbing that Nigerians are unable to think long term. If your farm shuts down, where will they find employment? It is not as if jobs are in abundance. But they are ready to loot the company into oblivion without a thought of tomorrow. And we all do this. Let me take my bribe today so the bandit can pass. If he is now too big for me to handle tomorrow, we'll I am not thinking about tomorrow |

MorataFC:Your nutritionists advice is contrary to most SM fitness influences who preach the gospel of eating copious amounts of eggs daily. Eating plenty eggs is the cornerstone of most workout plans - e no go work

BlueRayDick:Bros I agree with glorious here. The examples abound. The covid palliative, no be senior men corner am for their house? I used to know a man who is late now, Senior man in State civil service, But na those Xmas and ileya rice and chicken meant for public distribution he dey corner. So his family never had to buy rice or meat throughout the year. How much is rice to him as a Perm Sec or higher? But na those ones meant for public he will just direct his people with note to enter the govt storage and bring to his house For example dont be shocked to see if those Tinubu rice, na half of them dey Senators, governors and extremely rich politicians store and kitchen Never let any opportunity go to waste even if its N100 |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by raumdeuter: 1:45pm On Apr 09 |
GloriousGbola:They dont mind oh. They will say its an opportunity to chop their and with MorataFC example, dont be shocked if the senior men well compensated sef will join in looting Especially anything consumable people go open shop for your head |

Palliative 5kg bags of rice meant for casual workers were cornered by a Deputy Director, she released the rest when she was about to retire 2years later. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by izzou(m): 1:51pm On Apr 09 |
Maybe I am the one with a different view. The problem is not that the staff are stealing it and going to sell. They are chewing it and spitting the chaff everywhere. All the examples you guys are giving are mostly those who see such opportunities to earn more. What are they earning by chewing Sugar cane from 9 to 5? Na that part make me agree with Blueraydick. If it was stealing to sell, I understand. But stealing to chew and spit everywhere? Something else is the cause |
