Tinubu hails military efforts against insurgency, mourns fallen soldiers by NationalNewsNG(op): 11:28pm On Apr 09
From the reports I have received, our armed forces have been conducting sustained, intense land and air offensives against the insurgents, neutralising many terrorist fighters and commanders. The insurgents’ counterattack is a sign of desperation.

I extend my condolences to the families of our gallant soldiers, led by  Brigadier-General Oseni Omoh Braimah, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defence of our country in Borno State.

The government will never forget their sacrifices. Their sacrifices will not be in vain. Because of the courage and dedication of our troops on the frontline, our resolve to defeat terrorism and all forms of violence across Nigeria is stronger than ever.

I urge the Military High Command and our troops in all theatres of operation: Do not lose heart, do not be weary, do not be discouraged.

Our officers and men should continue to serve with honour, courage, and patriotism. The government will always stand by the Armed Forces, provide more of the equipment needed and ensure the welfare of all who risk their lives for our safety.

I urge Nigerians and the media to continue to support our Military in their relentless battle against insurgency and banditry. We should desist from celebrating or condoning the attacks against our troops. These soldiers are our heroes; unforgettable and irreplaceable.

My condolences also go to the Government and people of Borno State. The Federal Government will continue to work with the state government to achieve total victory and lasting peace.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President & Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces
Federal Republic of Nigeria

NationalNewsNG:
President Bola Tinubu has mourned Nigerian soldiers killed in a terrorist attack on a military base in Benisheikh, Borno State, on Thursday.

The President described the fallen troops as “unforgettable heroes” who paid the ultimate price while defending the nation.

The attack, confirmed by the Defence Headquarters, targeted the 29 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI, resulting in multiple casualties, including a senior officer.

According to official reports, the assault occurred in the early hours of April 9, 2026, when insurgents launched a coordinated strike on the military camp.

You see why I say Israel is God's chosen people?

You will come out to argue with me when, without any war at all, simple and little terrorists are downing 1 Brig Gen, and 4 Lt Col in one night, when after 4 weeks of a full-scale war with the superpower of Jeehardeest in the world, Israel didn't even lose one soldier to Iran.

Yet you will argue that they are not God's chosen people.

Generally speaking, in modern day warfare, Generals don't die in battle but here in Nigeria even a Four Star General might bite the dust where his command post is overrun due to malfunctioning APC that has no ready to go back-up Tank.
Twice now it has happened in the ongoing war against terror in Nigeria. It shows extreme vulnerability, a potential collapse in command structure, and portends a severe shock to troop morale.
It also signposts tactical error on the part of the Army and truth be told: a decapitation and a chain rout of the Nigerian Army by the supposed rag-tag army of terrorists! That is the worrying aspect of this matter!

Same pattern

Killings continue, statements issued with little or no accountability or action points. In private sector businesses, someone is held accountable for not doing a job after getting employed and paid

If i were the president, at the weekely FEC meeting, everyone will state achievement against targets. You will be put on the spot, a projector before you so your performance against deliverables is right before you. Non performers are put on probation and fired justifably if they fail to perform. Try this genuinely and see Nigeria work

Kudos to the military and all making sacrifices for the safety of Nigeria but it seems there is more to it than meets the eye. While the masses sleep, they are in the battle front ensuring the safety of those sleeping

The fallen heroes are true heroes

What about our troops harassing ...extorting and assaulting innocent civilians? Don't the troops celebrate? Are the troops well fed? ...armed? ...trained? ..paid on time? Useless speeches everywhere

Your generals are being slaughtered and you're here hiding under Remi's skirt hailing your failure.

It's still amaze me that after Buhari, Nigeria will get a president worse than Buhari.

We've lost some Army generals recently because the leadership is engrossed in muscling themselves back to power,it's understandable that in war there most be casualties but any serious government do everything necessary to make sure they don't loose a soul

Our Soldiers are gradually turning into cowards that rag tags militant groups are making piece meal of . What happened to the once braved units who brought peace to Liberia, Sierra-leone and other war torn regions that armies supported by the United Nations couldn't? Could it be that the blood of the innocent soldiers killed by past administrations for trump up charges or as a result of jealousy the reason for this ? We can't continue like this and be a laughing stock to the rest of the world.

Incompetent leadership.

This is getting worse . Generals are now killed like regular soldiers. For an average officer to die on battle field is terrible (the resources that go to the training of one officer is enormous) not to talk of a top officer like a General.

If Generals are now killed like this, I wonder for the civilian.

This government has failed even the army!

I have relatives in active duty in front line and the info we get on a daily basis - yes daily basis - is scary.

Someone is not telling us the truth. And they don't care. They will rather let Nigeria burn down than lose their political control.

It can never be well with you this useless APC and your nonsense supporters.

How can comrades that past out of NDA just last year, die early this year in the name of ambush?

Una go radio them to pull out when them don corner ISWAP! You go say Dem repent! Yet ISWAP go reenforce, come sama our boys double!

How long?!

If you like glue yourself to power till 2050 for all I care. God go punish you people!

God punish all of you.

I wonder why tinubu has not resign
Buhari told us we are going to miss him and I taught it was his normal cow talk
Re: Tinubu hails military efforts against insurgency, mourns fallen soldiers by Lanruze:
His Presidential statement is very inhumane and watery.

The USA last Friday specifically during the shooting down of an Air force Jet in Iran spent a whooping $500m to save the life of just one senior officer of Colonel Rank.

In case Nigerians are in doubt, The hierarchy of the Army gives a brigadier general good cover against attack with troop shield.

Sergeant -Master Warrant Officer - Squad Head ( 30-40 men)

Second Lieutenant - Capt - Platoon Head ( 40-100men)

Major - Company Head - ( 100-150 men)

Lt Col - Battalion Head- (200-350 men)

Brigadier -Brigade Head (500 men - 3000 troops).

Brigade Head Gone like that !

It's a shame.

Who's dishing out fake reports to Mr President. I can't count many times Jonathan went to northeast to meet with soldiers to express how they feel. Mr president, please visit our soldiers on the battle field and you'd understand better what they are passing through
