The US would not want both Asian countries to possess their own nuclear deterrent. Doing so will push them or give them the audacity to ask the US to relinquish its military bases. Also, if both have theirs, why not Germany as well? Yes, they have the technical expertise to own nuclear weapons, but the US, for control's sake, would not want it.
