These are the type of business-as-usual career politicians Ogun state could do without! I’ve not checked, but i’d wager my house on him being another Tinubu boy!

So someone that is not from lagos can become a senator in lagos
Interesting

That's why he would be rejected

Those who are forcing him should tell us what he achieved since he has been in politics

Someone can't represent Lagos state for over 2 decades and suddenly remember about Ogun state. That rubbish will never be accepted
Re: He Controlled Billions In Lagos, now He’s Eyeing Ogun State (full Political Time) by helinues: 3:34pm On Apr 14
Imagine Yayi's supporters listing his achievements for decades he has been representing Lagos state, he started representing Ogun state just in 2023 but the majority of his acclaimed achievements are in Ogun state. As How now

Does that mean if Yayi is elected as Ogun state governor, his major projects would be in Nasarawa state?

Someone should please make it logically sensible to me how Yayi with his profile above which indicated he served and represented Lagos state for over over 2 decades but Ogun state is the state suitable for him to be the governor

Why can't he be the governor of the state he represented for decades

because states are artificial creations and in the process of creating states, certain communities were split up such that people have ancestry in both states. Colonial Lagos was a very small area limited to Lagos island, ijora, etc. 93% of the land that is Lagos state today is made of up by annexing areas from the Egbas, the Ijebus and the Aworis. For example, Epe was a satelite town and "port" ancestrally under the domain of the Awujale of Ijebu before the creation of Lagos state and still exercises ownership and control over portions of Epe land despite Epe now being in Lagos state and Ijebu being in Ogun. Lekki eastwards towards Epe and beyond are Ijebu people, so also ikorodu. In Yayi's case, sections of Awori land was carved out of the western region such that you have |Aworis in Lagos and Ogun.

Another common occurrence is when ancient families had large land holdings outside their village of "main origin". What tended to happen is recognizing the family ownership of the land, a member of that family is appointed by the traditional ruler as the baale of that land/community. Now you have a family that has ancestry from 2 separate areas that may eventually fall into 2 different local governments, senatorial zones or states.

As for Yayi, I expect him to be a disaster or at best mediocre. To me he is just a level above Ade Dancer!

You wan reject anointed candidate?

Tinubu Lagos boys have been ruling states like Osun, Ekiti. Ogun to follow soon

I said it. Those people who supported APC initially will experience what others experienced. Their positions will be taken and given to others who didn't sacrifice.

If he was eligible to contest as senator of both states, can he also contest as governor of Lagos in coming years?

Usmanovic95:

That’s an interesting question. For sure, nothing stops him from being a governor in 2 states…..so long as it is 1 term in each state. However, I just had a quick glance at the constitution and from the little I read, there might be a loophole in the constitution.

I think the language is ambiguous. What exactly are the definitions of “a state” and in 182(1) and “such office” in 182(1)b? Does “a state” mean a particular state or any state?

In any event it is very unlikely to happen.

24 years as a politician and still counting. I can place a bet that whatever money he has, a large percentage came from government purse.

Yayi is indigene of Lagos
But it is Awori turn to produce Ogun State Governor and he is their most qualified person.

In Yorubaland it is not a Problem

Because he is from a tribe (out of the Yoruba ethnic group) found in both Lagos and Ogun state. We are our tribe 1st before state lines which was created by the military government.
When he contested for senate in Ogun state, a lots of Lagos kings (Obas), including the late king of my town, went with him to Ogun state to campaign.

There are many of them like this. Yayi, Wike, Rotimi Amaechi, Gbajabiamila etc.

Since 1999 these characters have been leeching on government money / public funds in one way or the other, without any evidence of having succeeded at anything in a private capacity.

Even if through something illegal like the tinibu that was a drug lord before politics, I'll even take that. At least he achieved something and made money via private scheming and hustle. Not all these lazy parasites who were nonentities and have refused to remove their rotten mouths from the feeding bottle of public funds.
