Last week, a friend of mine who had been saving to buy a Keke called me and asked if I could help make inquiries on the price of a new keke. He has always wanted to go into the business because I used to tell him how lucrative it was,I mean ,some years ago.

So, after some time,I called a seller whom I already had his number saved on my phone. I was shocked when he told me the current price of a new keke.
"5.2m naira". Yes ,that's it. I was left speechless and I knew how my friend would be more shocked than me when I finally break the news to him.

The moment I told him,he instantly changed his mind and said he'd rather invest his money on something else . The dude ran for his life.

Now,the truth of it all is this,and that's one thing I've been wanting to write about since the day I left Keke riding. And this is something I had always wanted to let everyone know, especially those who'd be willing to go into the Keke hire purchase business.

These days, before you should consider going into the Keke hire purchase business,you really need to sit well,and consider how and what's it's all about so that you don't end up regretting in the future, just like some of us did in the past

Firstly, owning a new keke automotically makes you a target for Keke snatchers . Yes,you heard me right. The rate at which new Kekes are being stolen these days is becoming so rampant and I've been asking if there are some particles of gold hidden inside Keke which nobody is talking about. Three colleagues of mine were robbed recently and their Keke all snatched away from them.

Secondly,the increase in production of fake spare parts have so much flooded the Keke market which makes me wonder if these producers are human beings with hearts at all . I once witnessed how a brand new Keke brought out smoke from it's exhaust immediately it was test-driven

Also, before considering on venturing into Keke hire purchase business, especially if you're planning to use it for transportation,you should better start saving from the very first day you start using it. Why? Because,Keke as widely known by most of us who once ventured into it knows and believes that any Keke thats being used for transportation only has a life span of 2 years. After that,the probability that you'll be answering to that row calls of every Keke mechanic workshop in your vicinity will be high.

But then again,fuel is something you must put into consideration because that's one of the obstacles most Keke riders are facing at this moment.

Lastly,your particulars, must be up to date,to avoid being in steady loggerheads with VIOs and police officers. These are some of the things I wish I knew before I got myself entangled with the system some years ago.

Even TVS that they use for keke is not 5m+. There are different models of TVS and I know for sure the base level which is used for keke driving is not the price you quoted. Give me the number of the dealer that told you 5m+.

Someone around me bought keke last week for 2.9m _I am not sure of the brand. He told me when he is done with registration, painting to the state's code, trampolin and every, it should bring his total expense to 3.2m. He exact words, "to put it for road, total is like 3.2m and I have 2wks grace from date of purchase to do that. For now I can drive it like this, so na the money I dey try hustle". He gave out the old to his brother and bought a new one. If it weren't profitable, he won't do that.

Your 5m+ price is exaggerated and like someone said, your knowledge on this might be outdated as it is.

Please, can you help me enquire about the brand. If it's brand new Bajaj RE, I need to have the contact of his dealer. I got 2 units at 4m each about 10 days ago. If it's same product and quality that is going for 2.9 elsewhere then I'm dumping my dealer immediately.

And these are the issues..if d Keke is out of service in 2yrs, it means the Keke depreciates 50% per yr.. u have to factor in (50% of d Keke price) depreciation as an expense along with maintenance and fuel expenses b4 u can say u profited in the year.

This is the business i do: within two years, a serious rider will finish payment. Initial Deposit: #500,000, Weekly Payment: #70,000 here in Abeokuta... I Ibadan riders pay around #90,000 Weekly

Lol this guy my spirit is telling me that you are regretting why you left Keke for recharge card and phone charging business. No business you start with less than 5m that can give you what Keke is giving you every day cash at hand. Forget it. Infact, you can easily make 10k before 2pm in the afternoon with Keke. While sitting down in your shop praying and HOPING for a customer. Lol. Nowadays I schedule my driving morning and Night only. I still save my 10k after feeding heavily. And no. New Keke is within 4m to 4.5m.
