“From Hope to Heartbreak: How Technical Failure Ruined My Daughter’s JAMB Exam After a Painful Journey to Omoku in Port Harcourt”

Yesterday was one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I have ever had since I started accompanying my children to JAMB CBT centres, as a father.

My daughter and I travelled all the way to Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, from UNIPORT, a place we had never been before. To avoid any issues, we left UNIPORT on Wednesday afternoon, spent money to lodge in a hotel, and prepared carefully for her exam scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. We arrived at the centre before 7:30 a.m., hopeful and ready.

Sadly, what we met there was confusion and disorder. The candidates scheduled for 6:30 a.m. were already inside, yet their exam had not even started due to technical problems. To our shock, the 9:00 a.m. candidates, including my daughter, were also ushered in despite the unresolved issues.

From that moment, we waited… and waited… and waited. Hours passed in uncertainty and discomfort. From morning until about 2:00 p.m., not a single exam was conducted. No clear communication, no solution, just growing tension and frustration everywhere.

In the end, we were simply told to go home, that JAMB would reschedule another date and centre. for those of 6:30 am & 9:00 am respectively. Just like that. After all the stress, cost, and effort, my daughter did not write her exam.

As the environment became increasingly chaotic and unsafe, we had no choice but to leave and find our way back to Port Harcourt. We finally got home around 4:30 p.m., grateful at least for our safety, but deeply saddened and discouraged.

Till now, I have been checking the JAMB portal (https://slipsprinting.jamb.gov.ng/main-examination) repeatedly, hoping to see a new date and centre for my daughter, but nothing yet.

It is truly painful and disheartening to go through so much, only to be left with uncertainty and disappointment.

so it's tinubu fault that there's a glitch?

One thing I understand about Nigeria is that truly uneasy lies the head that wears the crown, Elon musk the richest man in the world owns X and despite all the money invested in it still had technical glitch

Many times twitter is down and people also feel stranded but in Nigeria once anything happens just blame the president even if it involves common sense.
Re: From Hope2heartbreak: How Technical Failure Ruined My Daughter’s JAMB CBT-2026 by SafariHunter(m):
I empathize with you so I'll tell you this for free, efficiency has always been a problem with Nigeria. This occurs in both the public and private sectors. Excellence isn't our goal, this culture often leads to poor performances in key operations.

Imagine same problems every year with no solution in sight.

It's sad to ask but what really works in this country?

Mko123:
Sorry for the delay in res
This happens every uear, If JAMB can not fix the persistent tech glitch they should just revert to paper method afterwards some mpre advanced countries still use paper method for thier exams.

u just blame Nigeria for everything

So technical glitches that happens abroad too, who should we blame?

I can bet u haven't travelled out of Nigeria before so u see virtually everything as Nigerias fault.

Shit happens abroad too and network jam happens frequently but they don't blame their countries cos network providers can fail or bad weather

Dunno, I was always dubious about this computer thingummy, and I always felt very uncomfortable. Make we use paper until things are ready infrastructure wise

Technical glitches na normal things for 9ja. Initially, I thought she was the only one. Since no be only her, no wahala, she will still write her exams. They will reschedule another time and for them.

Nigeria is a rubbish country.

Nothing works here...

Out leaders have really failed us over time,,,

And nobody should tell me that change begins with me,,

Change doesn't begin with me;;;

Change begins with my leaders...

Change is up to down

Not down to up.

I could remember in 2015 when I said that Nigeria can not conduct any online exam because we haver gotten to that stage yet. Poor network, substandard computers, poor coordination, etc. If this was a better country JAMB would have been sued for this rubbish

it happens very well in USA

I was in Atlanta in 2021 and we all got messages that banks, corporate organisations and co suffered glitch so their server will b down for a specified time.

Let me burst your bubble more, when trump won election in 2016 there was a glitch which was allegedly done by Russia hackers and it gave trump the lead, go n read about it n tell me glitch also happens in Nigeria
