VIDEO: Stampede at Post-Convocation Hotel Party Leaves Three Dead, Many Others Hospitalized at Ikere Ekiti

Three people, including two students of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) and a staff member of Emirates Hotel, Ikere Ekiti were reportedly confirmed dead and some others hospitalized following a stampede incident at a convocation after-party held at the hotel yesterday .

The incident was reported this morning, with eyewitnesses saying it occurred late last night during the event.

According to preliminary accounts from eyewitnesses, the situation began when a large crowd struggled to move from one section of the venue to another, leading to a stampede.

However, the identities of the deceased have not been officially confirmed as of press time.

Authorities are expected to release an official update once the victims are identified and their families get notified.

Further details will be provided as investigations continue and official confirmation is received from the police and hospital authorities.

This is very unfortunate.

Since the dead has no second chance to make amends, passing blames doesn't hold water.

However, one cannot help but ask questions like: "what is the motivation behind this hotel post convocation ceremony after all the multifarious unethical practices like FYB (Final Year Brethren), Signing Out Madness and others already done on campus?

Is the lack of employment opportunities after graduation not demoralizing enough?

God have mercy.

Since I small, I have always had crowd phobia.

I don't care about the importance of what they are doing or sharing... Once I see crowd or too many people clustered in a limited space, I take off.

This certainly must have been caused by some highly inebriated students. Stampedes due to a lack of crowd control at parties with a lot of gatecrashers worldwide have been very fatal.

People from that region love party more than their life.
What do you enjoy attending a large party, not even a musical concert but party.

I guess it's going to be one of these hotels that just have 5 rooms and a parlour sized conference room.

Dey play, introvert have high tendency to die faster than extrovert. One can be in the room struck with hearth attack, family will think one is watching movies, it's the odour of the remnantof the dead that will notify them.

you and me na same. Even for street if I see where people gather I no won even know wetin dey happen. I waka my own jeje. It's the same reason. I don't attend parties or go clubbing. Neither do I go to church. The security risk is far too much.
