Gunmen Kidnap Travellers On Ibadan–Ijebu Expressway, One Killed (Video) by Prestar(op): 11:28pm On Apr 20

Panic has gripped commuters following a suspected bandit attack along the Ibadan–Ijebu Expressway, where several travellers were reportedly abducted and one person killed.

According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants ambushed vehicles along the busy highway, forcing them to a halt before whisking away an unspecified number of passengers into nearby bush paths. The attack, which occurred in the early hours of the day, left one traveller dead after being shot during the incident.

Sources said the gunmen operated for several minutes without immediate resistance, causing chaos and fear among motorists. Some drivers reportedly abandoned their vehicles and fled the scene to escape being captured.

Security operatives have yet to release an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report. However, local authorities are said to have been alerted, and efforts are underway to track down the perpetrators and rescue the abducted victims.

The Ibadan–Ijebu Expressway has in recent times been flagged by road users as a security hotspot, with increasing reports of kidnappings and armed attacks. Commuters are now calling on the government and security agencies to intensify patrols and ensure the safety of lives and property along the route.

This is already at Defcon level ORANGE (Terribly bad). Before it gets to RED(fatality) spread the word and give enough exposition to the menace by terrorists, that are still called bandits.

Asif he truly cares, why not direct all the energy used in buying the governors, national assembly, security agencies and so on to restructure the country. Create state/ regional police who can carry automatic weapons. Time will tell, as many youths are turning away from joining the military. Let every region secure themselves and control their resources. Politicians want to amass all by harnessing the country. Colonial style

people did not understand the context in which the wife of the former president mrs patient jonathan was worried to how because of position people can be so barbaric but we all took it with levity and now its a menace that refuse to leave.

let me state this, no present politician mean well for this country, both the one in power and the opposition claiming to be saint, they all rejoice at bad news to promote themselves the ones in power too have at some point rejoice and took advantage of this sad happenings.

Where exactly is safe to travel by road in Nigeria today? And to think that, this unfortunate government and its supporters keep bragging about construction of roads by this very clueless government, highways built to be taken over by bandits and terrorists to send innocent citizens to untimely deaths. Anyone still supporting this government is shameless and would soon face the bitterness and agony of people being kidnapped everyday across this nation. It doesn't matter whether you travel or not, kidnappers will find you and you will see the other side of being foolishly loyal to a system that does the majority no good whatsoever.

Honestly, news like this deh pain person and I wonder the kind of leaders we parade in Nigeria. Instead of them to get tractors to clear the bushes along the major roads to give a better view of the road, you'll see them spending funds on irrelevant things like buying SUV for traditional rulers, building expensive accomodation for judges, using public funds to do party conventions that'll later be nullified by court etc. To think of mopping up the illegal arms currently in circulation is a problem for them. How do you aim to stop insecurities when there is proliferation of arms and ammunitions via your porous borders.
