Satan’s Test Approved By God — The Story Of Job! by AntiChristian(op): 9:44am On Apr 09
Old Testament:
In Job 1, Satan comes before God asking permission to test rightous Job’s faithfulness. God allows Satan to take everything from Job except his life (Job 1:6-12). The calamities that befall Job, including fire destroying his property, come by God’s permission, not Satan’s independent power. Satan was simply God's tool to test Job by killling his family and destroying his properties!

Contrast with New Testament:
Jesus casts out demons and rebukes Satan’s power, showing that Satan’s reign is broken (Mark 1:23-27, Luke 10:18). Satan is condemned and defeated through Christ’s authority (John 12:31). Aren't Satan God's tool any more? Why cast out God's messenger?

Reflection:
In the Old Testament, Satan acts as a permitted tester under God’s sovereign control. In the New Testament, Jesus reveals Satan as the enemy to be overcome and cast out. When does the messenger become enemy?

The Book of Job actually presents Satan as the enemy, aka an adversary of YHWH. He, Satan, directly countered YHWH's claims regarding His servant Job, did he not? That is sort of what adversaries/enemies do, isn't it?😒

The book of Job presents Satan both as an enemy of YHWH and also as a servant of YHWH, a being created by YHWH himself to handle the evil side of things on YHWH's behalf. In the Gospels, Jesus Christ of Israel revealed that the beginning of Satan is known, and confirmed that Satan was created a liar and deceiver from the moment he was created, meaning his programming has been just that from the point he was created by YHWH. And we also learn in the Gospels that Jesus Christ of Israel reported to His disciples, Peter included, that Satan had asked to test him. Again, we have Satan approaching the Lord to test His servant, in this case, Peter. 😒
31 “Satan has asked to test you men like a farmer tests his wheat. O Simon, Simon,
32 I have prayed that you will not lose your faith! Help your brothers be stronger when you come back to me.”
33 But Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, I am ready to go to jail with you. I will even die with you!”
34 But Jesus said, “Peter, before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will say you don’t know me. You will say this three times.” - Luke 22 vs 31 - 34
Very similar to that in the Book of Job, right? 😒

Now, can we skip to more interesting topics like Mohammed and him having prior knowledge of the wrongness of marrying a child, as evidenced by his excuse for refusing Abu Bakr and Umar his daughter, Fatima's hand in marriage? By the way, don't offer me the Aisha was previously bethrothed argument, because you and I know a bethrothal is completely different from a marriage. 😒

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Buraidah: It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Buraidah that his father said: "Abu Bakr and 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, proposed marriage to Fatimah but the Messenger of Allah said: 'She is young.' ( inna-haa sagheera) Then 'Ali proposed marriage to her and he married her to him."

Sunan an-Nasa'i 26:3223:
The age of consent during the 7th century in the Byzantine Empire was set at 12 years of age for girls and 14 years of age for girls. (Bethrothals were usually entered into as early as desired; however, marriage was not considered until after the age of consent was reached.) Also, much of the time, boys were married off to the girls. The practice of marrying off girls to much older men was not commonplace. Mohammed must have learned and known all of this as a merchant from his many travels. 😒

Yeah, Satan mixed in as one of the angels (aka sons of God) to report to the Lord from all his roamings of the earth. Was Satan among the sons of God to be admitted to meet God? Was there no measures to prevent enemies from mixing with the real sons of God? We are talking about meeting with the Almighty God not just one king on earth. Even the smallest chief on earth would put in place measures to prevent his enemies from reaching him.

One day the angels (sons of God) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b] also came with them. The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”

Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.” Job 1:6-7

I don't know how your enemy would be able to enter your house and meet you from among your kids!

WISDOM is one of the qualities of the Bible God {Psalms 104:24} according to the Bible Satan was one of God's spirit sons before he decided to become a God on his own {Isaiah 14:12-14} if the same thing happens to a human the next thing that will come to our mind is to destroy the rebel immediately but is there WISDOM in doing so?

Before answering that question let us define the word "WISDOM"

The Oxford Dictionary defined wisdom as the discretionary use of knowledge for the greatest good.

So why didn't God destroy Satan quickly?

Other angels (God's spirit sons) were present when Satan became a rebel, in their hearts they will wonder if Satan could succeed independently as a God who is doing everything based on his own discretion and not in obedience to God. So if God should destroy Satan without giving him the opportunity to prove himself, is that WISDOM?🤔

That is why JEHOVAH allowed Satan to continue living as long as he wish to prove himself a God whose ways of handling matters is better than that of the true God.

So when Satan later came to the assembly of God's loyal spirit sons God asked him:

“Where have you come from?”

In response Satan said:

“From roving about on the earth and from walking about in it.” Job 1:7

In other words Satan said
"I've been going to wherever i wish on planet earth and doing whatever pleases me not just following your orders like these ones here" 🙂

Next God asked him:

“Have you taken note of my servant Job? There is no one like him on the earth. He is an upright man of integrity, fearing God and shunning what is bad.” Job 1:8

In response Satan said:

“Is it for nothing that Job has feared God? Have you not put up a protective hedge around him and his house and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock has spread out in the land. But, for a change, stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your very face.” Job 1:9-11

Here Satan is accusing Job {Revelation 12:10} that he's only interested in God due to the good things God is doing for him.

So after all what Satan did Job continue to remain loyal to his Creator.

What a heavy blow on Satan's face as all those angels saw how a mortal man defeated the self acclaimed God with all his evil schemes.

That is what i call WISDOM!🙂

1. So God counts Satan among his sons!
2. Satan is a messenger of God just like Jesus!
3. Has Jehovah forgotten the pedigree of Satan starting from the Garden of Eden?

1. Yes a rebellious son who deserves to be destroyed.

2. Was a messenger of God but chose to serve himself only.

3. Satan has been sentenced to death all what he's doing now is to prove before all other angles why such sentence is unjust.

1. The passage says nothing about Satan mixing in. It literally suggests instead that Satan showed up along with the other Sons of YHWH. 😒

2. Well, let's see what we learn of Satan from the Book of Job, chapter 1.
⚆ Satan was created and pre-programmed by YHWH, from his beginning, to be a liar and a murderer.
⚆ Satan's resources were made available to him through YHWH's help in accomplishing his tasks.
⚆ Satan reports back progress on his tasks to YHWH.
⚆ Satan conducts quality assurance tests on YHWH's servants while also complying with the criteria set for him by YHWH.
⚆ Satan can only touch those whom YHWH has permitted him to.

From the above alone, we see that Satan is, in fact, a servant of YHWH who carries out the will of YHWH according to his programming. I think the passage is literally telling you that Satan is among the Sons of God. 😒

3. E be like say you don dey write your own book for inside your head there again. I remember something last year, whether it was more than a year before... I am not too sure..., we had this same discussion, and I pretty much explained even then that the Book clearly depicts Satan as a servant of God. So, you coming back to pretend this is new leads me to believe this is part of some sort of schtick on your part. 😒

4. I am thinking to myself why the f-ck this person thinks YHWH's enemy/adversary has to be exactly like his own enemy or why YHWH has to act towards others exactly like he does. 🤔

5. You all used your influences on Nairaland to get me banned from the Islamic section, remember? I am here to piggyback on any thread started by Islamics on this side to understand how your psyches really work. 🤔

How do you explain the fact that Mohammed was well aware of the restrictions that existed during his time, yet he went ahead and did what he did anyway? 🤔🤔

You are a smart one aren't you?

Satan is under God's sovereignty, He does nothing without God saying "OK"....

As part of the insult against God the catholics created a Satan that is a dual opposite of God......which I find insulting.
Re: Satan’s Test Approved By God — The Story Of Job! by sonmvayina(m): 9:01pm On Apr 16
The book of Job was written by Jeremiah during the Babylonian exile. In the original tale, the God there was Marduk and Satan was Enlil(the Lord of the wind). It was written to educate the Jews that God is sovereign over all his creation and nobody does anything without his ok. That Satan needs an expressed permission from God to act.
The Babylonian society was more polarized than whatever you can think off. They had their different cult centres, but the Lord God creator of the heavens and earth was Marduk the lugal dimmer ankia (divine king of heaven and earth).

Can you define a messenger?
If God did send evil spirit to torment someone is that evil spirit not God's messenger?

Now the Spirit of the LORD had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD tormented him - 1 Samuel 16:14

Now how is Satan not a messenger again?

Where's the projection? This is just simple logic. God sends someone to carry out a task! It doesn't matter if the person is Jesus, Evil Spirit or Satan!
