I want to know how i can control this urge. I drink at least two pet bottles in a day. If i don't take it in a day, I won't be myself. How do I curb this behavior? I tried looking away, discipline myself but it is not working.
it's not the Pepsi itself that is the addiction, it's your Ghrelin, dopamine and serotonin hormones that are the issue here.

It's bad that you can't curb your cravings, and the bad effect is you are over working your insulin and biles, and the mitchocondrai in your cell.

The moment you develop insulin resistance and begin to have fatty liver or diabetes, that will be the beginning of the end for you because a reversal will be hard, you must cut out intake of sugar.

If you will be able to do that in the future with plenty medication and spending money on drugs and hospital (plus your kidney and heart will be at risk), why not force yourself to stop sugar now?

If not for sugar, human will have the capacity to live up to 150 years old, so each time you consume sugar, see it like you commiting suicide.

You could try replacement therapy. I'd suggest going cold turkey, but if you can't, you could try gradualism and replacement therapy.

Very simple solution. Just visit the diabetes treatment section in any hospital . By the time you come out no one will tell you before you start running from pepsi

Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by BouquiLake: 8:36am On Apr 21
Reduce it to one battle per day.... You can divide one bottle in to two... 1st drive take half, 2nd drive take the other half.
When you are good with that, reduce it to half a bottle a day (You can dilute with water to make it full bottle psychologically). You can go on with this for a long period and may not even need to stop because i think that is still permissible shocked

BE DISCIPLINED AND INTENTIONAL about this arrangement.

Never try to stop abruptly... It will most certainly nit work!

I was in your shoes from secondary school to university and even after graduating. Mine was Coca-Cola mostly. I just liked soft drinks. I was worried about the health effect. I started trying on my own but it wasn't working.

Until I met my wife. She helped me overcome the addiction.
Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by agentarcher(m): 8:37am On Apr 21
Sugar has the same brain response as cocaine. You addicted to that high. You might find a replacement and that new thing will become a problem later. Try seeing an addiction expert first. Then do this two things in the meantime, try jogging or doing light workout and eating okra related dishes. Okra is good for controlling sugar levels in the body. Make sure to see an addiction expert to help you. I have seen people run from addictions to addictions cause no self control. You might have oral fixations and might replace that Pepsi with berry blast and now you have a berry blast problem, or move to beer and develop a drinking problem.

You will stop when you start dealing with the consequences. By then, it’s not even a decision anymore. Hope you have some millions saved for your medical bills so you don’t become an extra burden on your family.

Look for alternative drink like sugarless kunu, soy milk etc.

How I dished sugary drinks of that nature was to eat two to three dry moringa seeds and then drink water afterwards. It tastes great just as sugary drinks, giving medicine and pleasure at the same time.
Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by angelboy01(m): 8:43am On Apr 21
I used to take a lot of coke until I noticed each time I take it my eyes becomes very yellow like jaundice and water comes out from my eyes. Little did I know it's the beginning of a kidney infection which my lead to a disease and even diabetes. Continue taking it until your eyes will clear. Maybe you aren't the controller of your destiny to be asking such a question about addiction.

.. because you have become too addicted to it...you will have diabetes and also kidney problems .. which these sicknesses are difficult to solve medically..you have to try and discipline yourself and stop it..take natural fruits and drink more water...stop this sugary drink . Pepsi
Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by Floramie(f): 8:48am On Apr 21
Deliberately reduce it to a bottle per day for the 4 weeks.

One bottle in 2 days the continue giving gaps till you eventually overcome it.

Talk yourself to it too.

Nothing is impossible

Don't stockpile or buy bulk at home . Dring zero or Pepsi max with lower sugar to reduce impact of excess sugar .

Gradually reduce quantity . Above all fasting can help reduce crazing for sugar

You did not look away and you did not discipline yourself. You are simply not serious about it. You are only waiting for some drastic news about your health before you can put an end to the habit.

It is all about your mind and nothing else.
Simply say NO MORE and that is it. You do not look away when you see it. Make a firm, wholehearted decision and that ends it. With a firm decision, no urge will make you take a sip. The same should go for other sugary drinks and alcohol. Replace them all with water. A simple but firm decision will end it.

It'll spike the sugar levels of his body.

Or you think there's any good thing used to make those sweet drinks?
Ok boss I hear you...

But I asked that question for a reason. Read the guy's comment again. Have you ever heard anywhere there asked what killed a person and the reason given was Pepsi? Or na sugar kill am o.

Spike in sugar level can be as a result of many medical conditions... some diabetes related.

If the friend died from diabetes or spike in his sugar level as you put it and which he didn't state and I wanted to clearify from him we can still not say specifically that Pepsi killed the guy because they are many ways he could have been ingesting or spiking his sugar level of which the drink may have just been one of them. So why say categorically that Pepsi killed anyone? They are people that spike their sugar levels and don't drink Pepsi.

It would have been better if he referred to the specific medical condition that caused the death eg diabetes.

They are people that drink Pepsi daily the quantity he stated that grow old and nothing happened to them until they pass away naturally.

It's wrong to state without proof of medical evidence that pepsi killed anyone... they is a specific cause for his friend's death and it is not Pepsi.

Do you understand my reason for asking now?

Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by bunmmy5: 8:57am On Apr 21
For me the addiction is not the problem because the body also need element of sugar for a balanced diet but in this case of eccess consumption, do you take any drug or herbal water made personalised drink that helps in the flushing of sugar consumed wether through carbohydrate or direct sugar intake like the pepsi.

If you are non diabetics person, try to limit yourself to 1 per day and eat more of proteins and vitamins in combination to whatever carbohydrate you are taking, you will free from all the aforementioned ailment mentioned by previous commentators
Re: I Am Addicted To PEPSI by Hightablevoice2:
The best and simplest way to override any involuntary action is encouraging that action itself with a reward system. It's like getting someone to stop smoking cigarette, taking alcohol or any addictive substance. You can not Will yourself into it or replace it with another addiction. Your brain, body, the chemicals in the said product will fight you till you give in.

The best possible solution is to attach a positive sentimental and personal reward system to it. The feeling of success dominates all other urges in the human psyche.

The guy that said you should set a 90 day period is on the right track, however he didn't particularly offer a practical solution. With a 90 days period set to override an already involuntary action, trust me with that much overload, your brain will reject it after 90 minutes.

The best practical solution is you will deal with in stages and phases.
First will be the daily challenge. "I am only drinking it at evening/night". The brain can easily manage a day challenge. And since you are only up for let's say 12 hours challenge, you can easily divide that into 3 hours routine, with your alarm system. Your attention should be on the alarm, the first 3 hours gets through, then commit to resetting the alarm, until you get to the final 3rd. Don't just set alarm for night. Condition it, and each time your alarm dings, mentally reward yourself.

Second phase is "I am only drinking it 3 days in a week". Keep in mind do not say I am only drinking one bottle, just say I am only drinking it. The subconscious mind is a hell of a mighty force you can't negotiate with it easily. Agree with it. Relatively you can choose the days like Sundays after church service. Monday night after work, Wednesday meditation session. Programming the subconscious is not something you will brute force it won't agree.

Then the third phase "I am only drinking it once a week". When you are able to attach a reward system to it to yourself like completing a task, you will be able to negotiate with your subconscious in controlling the habit, and it will starts agreeing with the reward you are bringing by the task (success) of completing the exercise.

By the time you get down to the level of once a week. You can decide when to have or when not to have it. The new habit of finding a reason to drink it will override the old system. Sefini.
It will take time, but it is something you can achieve within 6-7months.

No worries, let diabetes teach you a life long lesson, that time, your brain go come back to its senses.

Both can increase risk of diabetes (if overused) because energy crashes
affect blood vessels. Neither should be used daily.

Glucose-D is like petrol poured quickly, leads to fast burst, burns out fast
Sugar is like slower fuel, but still not clean energy.

Glucose-D is basically pure glucose (also called Dextrose) absorbed very fast into the blood.

Use honey instead, honey has small nutrients in its sugar and small antioxidant.
