He will contest for the ticket and just might clinch the VP ticket if he loses. Obi can defect to the NDC and clinch the ticket to run as a third force if he does not want to subject himself to direct primaries. Kwankwaso is returning to the Senate to vie for the Senate presidency.

Umahi, Soludo, Uzodinma and other Southeastern politicians are sabotaging Obi just so they can be considered for VP in 2039 but Obidients feel being a VP is too condescending. There's no pathway to a Southeastern presidency that does not involve going through the VP route. The North was VP to Obasanjo and succeeded him. The Southsouth was VP to Yar'adua and succeeded him. The Southwest was VP to Buhari and succeeded him. A Northerner is currently VP to Tinubu and will be succeeding him, heads or tail. Tinubu was the face of the opposition and had the entire Southwest in his grips but he wanted to be VP to Buhari in 2015 so he can attain the presidency. He ended up nominating Osinbajo due to muslim-muslim constraints. Power is not served on a plate and nothing goes for nothing.
