Gombe-Led ADC Urges Calm Ahead Of Supreme Court Judgment by Orabi(op): 6:51am On Apr 23
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, on Wednesday, appealed to members of the party to remain calm, united and law-abiding as they await the reserved judgment of the Supreme Court.

Gombe commended members for their resilience and steadfast dedication to the ideals of the ADC throughout the period of uncertainty.

In a goodwill message addressed to party members, Gombe expressed appreciation for their patience, loyalty and commitment during the legal process, describing the period as a defining moment for the party.

He said the moment calls for calm, unity and unwavering faith in the rule of law, adding that the ADC remains confident that justice will prevail.

Gombe said: “I extend my warm greetings and profound appreciation to you all as we await the reserved judgment of the Supreme Court. This moment calls for calm, unity, and unwavering faith in the rule of law.

“As a law-abiding political party, we remain confident that justice will prevail and that the outcome will reaffirm the legitimacy of our leadership and the sanctity of our party’s constitution.

“I commend your patience, loyalty, and steadfast commitment to the ideals of the ADC throughout this period. Your resilience continues to strengthen our collective resolve to build a party founded on justice, internal democracy, and the true spirit of service.

“While we await the Court’s pronouncement, I urge every member to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and focused on our shared vision for Nigeria. Our schedule of activities shall be communicated through official channels immediately after judgment is delivered.

“Together, we shall emerge stronger, more united, and better positioned to deliver credible leadership to our great party.”

This is lovely to read, Party politics shouldn't be about established Parties, whose honourable refusal to jettison their principles means they remain a minor Party building slowly, suddenly been bum rushed by rich unprincipled big wig politicians and all these humble people have worked silently hard for being thrown out of the window just like that.

Same thing happened in LP and now in ADC, I believe this kind of thing should now be treated as a criminal offence actually.

The wicked, ologogoro, FCT land grabber is doing well in judicial procurement, with his prioritisation of houses for judges over paying salaries for teachers to keep children in school.

Wike Boasts Of Helping APC Use Judiciary To Kill Osun LG Funds Case, Warns Party Leaders Against Ingratitude

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly boasted that he assisted certain elements within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in deploying the judiciary to frustrate the Osun State local government allocation lawsuit.

In a video now circulating widely on social media and obtained by SaharaReporters, Wike made the claim while addressing a crowd in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor accused the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, of benefitting from judicial actions against the Osun State Government without knowing those who did the work behind the scenes.

The suit in question led to the withholding of local government funds in Osun State, a development widely seen as targeting the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as opposition in the state.

Wike, who spoke angrily, suggested that the court action supporting the APC’s position against the Osun government did not happen by chance, boasting that powerful political forces worked quietly to ensure the outcome.

“Don’t take our support for Mr President for granted,” Wike warned, in an apparent message to APC leaders defending Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. “You have to be careful about the statements you make. You have to be very careful.”

He accused Basiru of political ingratitude, claiming the APC was enjoying in Osun State without understanding who engineered their advantage.

“Today, you are enjoying in Osun. You don’t know those who did the work,” Wike said. “You are opening your mouth to talk about Rivers State.”

I strongly believe the most popular general assertions that the Supreme Court has said some issues in political parties are internal party affairs will become more clearer.

Because, if there is gross impunity to a member of a social club for example, which I believe a political party is a club...where will a member seek redress...if we are saying all are internal party affairs.

This general statement doesn't make sense to me.

I hope the Supreme Court will give more clarity...instead of sweeping generalisation. There should be instances where some issues cannot be said to be "internal party affairs" .. especially if a member's right cannot be guaranteed by the leadership of that party

Really?
Are you talking about this man or someone else huh

newsbook:
Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has re-echoed his allegation that his predecessor, Mr Peter Obi demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him for sponsoring his election in 2013.

Obiano and his predecessor, Obi have had a frosty relationship shortly after his swearing in.

Obi has however denied that he demanded for the sum of N7.5billion from Obiano, saying that his problem with him was his (Obiano’s) underperformance.

Obi said if he needed the said sum, he would have simply taken it from the N75billion he left for the Obiano administration at the end of his tenure.

But Governor Obiano while speaking on Wednesday evening at Ezechima Primary School, Onitsha where he inaugurated his reelection campaigns in Onitsha North Council Area, said the clarification became necessary because of the recent accusations against him by the former Governor.

He stated that his predecessor had demanded the sum of N7.5billion from him as funds spent in prosecuting the election on his behalf, but that he refused to pay the money because it was not true.

Obiano said he refused to pay because he strongly believed that public funds should be used for public good, and not to settle godfathers.

These, he said, was the reason they fell apart.

The governor said that another reason he refused to pay the money was because he was aware that enough money was raised for his campaign by his friends and associates, all of which were never accounted for by the former governor.

On the actual sum the former Governor claimed he left behind, Governor Obiano made it clear that he inherited liability of about N127 billion debt from him in contracts awarded and other responsibilities, which he has been religiously undertaking in the spirit of continuity.

He said Obi flagged off several roads even on the day he was leaving office and saddled him with the burden of paying for it, but he assured the people that he has his eyes on the ball and will not allow anything to distract him from fulfilling his promises.

The Chairman of the Governor’s Re-election Campaign Committee, Chief Victor Umeh said APGA as the political spirit of Ndigbo, has in the past three and half years, availed Anambra good governance at its best, reminding the people that the upcoming guber election was not about Willie Obiano but about ensuring that the state remained free from political godfatherism.

A former Central Bank Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in his speech said that at this time, the State needs a tested hand like Governor Obiano who has the experience and expertise to effectively steer her affairs.

The Undemocratic Ascendancy of the ADC’s New Hierarchy

If you describe the hostile takeover of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a hijack, you would not be wrong. If you call it daylight robbery, you would also not be far off. Where you would be mistaken, however, is in believing that the new members of the ADC have demonstrated even a shred of democratic behavior since their arrival.
There is no disputing that these newcomers have made the ADC more visible than it was nine months ago. Yet, since that now-infamous morning at the party’s unveiling—where the ADC was declared the final destination for their opposition coalition after failed attempts with the Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, PDP, and others—virtually every step taken since has been a misstep.

A Power Grab Disguised as Leadership

The first bizarre act by the new members was to orchestrate the removal of the party’s existing leaders and distribute key positions among themselves. David Mark assumed the chairmanship, while Rauf Aregbesola took the secretary role—all without consulting the state executives, the National Executive Committee (NEC), or even the local government and ward leaders. This blatant power grab ignored the ADC’s constitution, which explicitly states that only members of at least two years’ standing can aspire to executive positions. There is no evidence that the new leaders sought or obtained a waiver for this requirement. One can only surmise that they granted themselves the waiver, further exposing their disregard for due process.

Silencing Dissent: The Case of Leke Abejide and Dumebi Kachikwu

When news of these changes began to filter down the party hierarchy, Hon. Leke Abejide, one of the ADC’s highest-ranking elected officials and representative of Yagba East-West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency, dared to question the process. The response? His suspension from the party, labeled as “anti-party activity.” Clearly, the new leadership had no tolerance for dissent.

But Abejide was not the only casualty. Dumebi Kachikwu, the ADC’s presidential candidate in the last election, was completely sidelined—despite having contested alongside the very figures now leading the party (Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso). His public criticism of the new hierarchy was met with indifference, another undemocratic move in a growing list.

Defiance of the Rule of Law

The new leadership’s contempt for democratic norms extended to the courts. When a court order directed them to explain why an exco member, Nafiu Bala Gombe, should not be recognized as the acting chairman (being the last remaining member of the previous executive), they simply ignored it. In a recent convention—held in defiance of electoral rules—they passed a resolution to suspend Bala Gombe once again, this time under the familiar guise of “anti-party activity.”

In a move reminiscent of military rule, they even proposed suspending the ADC’s constitution and replacing it with one of their own making—crafted without the input of other party members.

A Pattern of Undemocratic Behavior

The list of unconstitutional missteps by these new members is long and growing. There is little indication that they will stop unless the law intervenes to halt their undemocratic stride. What began as a quest for opposition unity has devolved into a brazen power grab, where democratic principles are sacrificed at the altar of ambition.

The ADC’s story is no longer about building a credible opposition; it is about how easily a party can be hijacked by those who have no respect for the rules—or the people—they claim to represent.
