It’s like this AI of a thing will render many professional careers obsolete in few years time from the look of it.

Perhaps, the way forward is to learn Prompt Engineering as an alternative to bridge the gap between professionalism and artificial intelligence.
Try flow with the tide. The better AI gets, the more AI trainers that will be needed. Guys are making tons working remotely in this direction.

Thank you for your attention to this matter

This is pure bs... AI has come to stay for good. If you can't work you fall. Stop seeing AI as an enemy it's just a tool to enhance our creativity and judgement. Use it. Of you're thinking there are jobs AI can't affect you're still living in prehistoric times. Even farming and medical field AI is very relevant but without human input it's useless. So it is with every profession under the sun. The real problem is a lot of people are too lazy to learn to work with this blessed tool and they're the ones that will be left behind
Yea, the 30000 that were laid off from Oracle also shared this same blind optimism, right up until they were shown out of the door in epic fashion. A typical sales call center can have anywhere from 12-20 people doing cold calling from shift to shift. Today organizations are using AI software to do cold calling. What do they need those humans for now? Your logic is embrace the tool, but what will that do for you when the tool is meant to replace you? People all over the world are queuing up to do tasks training AI on step-by-step flowchart/process and protocol for doing their jobs today for as low as $5-10, or as high as $100 for top in-demand specializations, and you think after that program is trained and ready to go, they will still need you. For what exactly?? Yea, they will still need humans, like 1% (management ie. The shot callers, and maybe a number of specializations you can count by hand), while they discard the 99%. The idea of a worker as you know it will be made redundant. Everybody is crazed about making more money, and will happily cut costs once they have a working alternative that can give results. Who needs a workforce of 10000 when you can get same or better output with 50, and a slew of AI programs that have been trained by some 'hopeful' humans to automate the various tasks that the organization/business runs on? The 50 don't even need to have deep knowledge on how to use the AI, like Sam Altman was described recently, their profile will be, they will be the one cutting the cheques and making the decisions. Don't worry, we will likely all see it korokoro God sparing our lives.

100% on point!

Plumber|Mechanic|Electrician|etc

Handwork generally will hardly be replaced by AI.

For example Data centres that run AI will need HVAV for cooling, Electrician for power, Handymen for building among a few!

So learn these at a professional level not this electrician wey dey "fear to climb ladder level!"

I was interviewed just the 2 days ago by an AI agent at one international recruitment agency and I imagined if this is replicated in every organization, one can't imagine the millions that won't have a job!

Will AI take over the jobs of Lawyers?
In time, YES.

Instead of a law firm sending a physical human lawyer to the court, it will send an AI holographic 3-D rendition of the lawyer standing there in court and arguing.

It will just be as if the actual lawyer is there. There might be some kind of glow around him which could be the giveaway, but in time, even that will go, and you won't be able to tell the difference unless there's a sign that says it somewhere.

You don't need to be tech savvy to learn to use these tools...

All you need is an app and how to prompt. Eventually, it will become accessible to everyone.

Almost everyone now has chatgpt on their phones for example. In a few years time ago it wasn't that accessible.

The world is changing rapidly and the future is artificial intelligence!
Chat gpt was available from the very first day it was released in 2022. I used it in the first week of December 2022 and I was wowed. O have been stick to AI since then

how many ppl can give them jobs.... A graphics designer, intermediate level, I didn't go further when I noticed great reduction in patronage and gigs... That's the problem, you'll stop having gigs, it's only logo design that AI hasn't really mastered but it will with time.. Same with ux design, AI is taking over, it's crazy.

Exactly. Being a graphic designer puts you on a different level even in terms if using the AI. You know what to tell the AI to do, in your language, and can customize your AI-generated output on a more sophisticated, professional level than the regular Joe.

AI will end this world. Jot it down.

The rate at which the West is investing in it and what they are using it for can bring this world to an end than thought

It will first of all kpai careers, before it kpais people.

I have made some pennies with AI but believe me, that lie about how AI is here to help us is a dangerous illusion. The future is in God's hand. And even though I will still use AI right now, I wish artificial intelligence never existed but it was inevitable.

Immediately people figured out how to build these machines decades ago, this era became inevitable.

Yes, you are right. It's not that AI can not replace those things but I mean, the need for accountability would not make those professions easily replaceable.

Besides, remember that when it has direct link with wellness and survival, it can not be completely left in the hands of AI. This is because anything can go wrong, someone needs to be accountable.

Look at graphics, you create stuffs with prompts and you are at liberty to rephrase your prompts until you achieve perfection or what you want. The same can not be said for surgery, nursing or aviation where any slight errors in the prompt can make an aircraft intended for London as destination might end up in Australia. Or any miscommunication with a surgeon ends up pulling off his patients intestines instead of just shifting it in a procedure.

In summary, we need to evolve just as fast and accept this AI as an assistive tool in any sector we find ourselves.

Going to spend 4 good years in the university is basic but in the process, embrace AI to solidify and get you well grounded in that course.

It is really an eye opener for the new upcoming generations.
I will disagree with some of your point and brain54's points, too

(Good morning, btw)

Firstly, Commercial Airplanes can literally fly themselves. Everything has been done for them in the cockpit excepts checks with ATC towers, infact almost every plane mishap nowadays is due to Pilot Error rather than mechanical failures. But we need pilots still.

Telemedicine has moved further ahead in China and USA. It's not doing so well in the USA, a dental student in a rural clinic just died.

China seems to be doing AI better.

Thirdly, Machine Learning is great (even Lego is now pushing Machine Learning ahead of Engineering and Robotics, at kids). Chatbots are crap (Claude, ChatGPT etc).

Why?

In education purposes, they're slowly eroding human ability to reason and logic properly. Teachers and professors are now seeing serious degradation in students' ability to memorize and learn and keep any new information. Human beings are losing brain plasticity very quickly. Medically, that's really bad (lots of diseases coming up pretty quickly, your elderly parents were healthier than us).

Let me put it this way: your reliance on AI to do basic things doesn't free you up to do complex things because we evolved by doing basic things and made it complex. AI is devolving us. To understand how bad human devolution may end up, there was a weird Sci-Fi show called "Raised By Wolves". Also, books like Aldous Huxley "Brave New World", where everyone is assigned roles from birth.

We will also need population control since "hey, we don't need so many humans, AI will do most of it!". Guess which race will be on the chopping block first, due to the fact that politicians globally and even the billionaires with AI companies keep saying openly "some cultures don't contribute much, ya know". I mean, just look at how once anti-inmigration sentiment has been pushed for the last decade quietly on social media and has exploded to the point people don't care if migrant boats full of people who look like you and I get shot and drowned at sea.

Turkeys and Chickens shouldn't vote for Christmas.

We are being forced AI done our throats whether we want it or not (I was writing a personal email and AI kept asking if I needed help to draft it or "let's fine tune it", nope no need, this needs to feel human).

Ask yourself why?

You think everybody who needs a design have that aesthetic creativity or know how to prompt? No. They will still come around.

Two months ago, someone wanted to modify a design I believed was done with AI, and I perfectly did it, charging the same money I charge for a new design.

I agree with you that Patronage will reduce, I can only advise graphics designers to add AI to their workflow, that way they won't be left behind.
