Oyo State Released N5.813 billion compensation to more than 900 property owners whose lands fall within the 110-kilometre circular road corridor.

The Oyo State Executive Council on Tuesday approved fresh financial commitments to accelerate infrastructure delivery, support affected citizens and cushion economic hardship for residents.

NaijaChoice News gathered that the decisions, taken at the meeting presided over by Governor Seyi Makinde, centre on the ongoing Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road and other priority projects.

Council released an additional N5.813 billion as compensation to more than 900 property owners whose lands fall within the 110-kilometre circular road corridor. The project, which encircles Ibadan, is designed to ease chronic traffic gridlock and open up new economic corridors in the state capital.

In a related move, the ExCo approved N3.981 billion for the reconstruction of the Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbojaiye–KAP Film Village Road. The sum, which covers bridge construction over the Otu and Ofiki rivers, brings the total project cost to N30.464 billion and will improve access to the fast-growing film hub in Oke-Ogun.

The council also voted N126.912 million to complete the Oyo State Christian Wing multipurpose hall, a project first started over 25 years ago during the administration of late Governor Lam Adesina. Officials say the facility will serve pilgrims and faith-based events once finished.

To further support workers and commuters, N710.382 million was approved for transportation subsidies under the Sustainable Actions for Economic Recovery (SAfER) programme. The funds will run from March to August 2026, extending relief amid rising transport costs.

In the same vein, the ExCo gave the nod for Oyo State to host the 2026 edition of the International Tourism Summit. The event is expected to build on gains from previous editions and showcase the state’s rich cultural heritage and investment potential to global audiences.

These approvals reflect the state government’s continued push to deliver tangible dividends of democracy, from road infrastructure to citizen welfare and tourism growth.

Residents in affected communities are expected to receive their compensation promptly, while contractors have been urged to fast-track work on the approved projects.

NGN 5.813 billion for over 900 properties 😳😳😳

Is this wickedness or sheer wickedness?

So with the massive destruction carried out, each property owner will get a paltry NGN 6 million?

Is the Oyo state government conversant with cost of building materials?

This is robbery and absolute insult to the affected property owners.

As it's not an apc thing, see them m@sturbating and wailing at the same time.

They praised the meager N16B that was allegedly paid to affected Nigerians on the 700km coastal highway but are crying here....Una go cry taya..

Most of those affected don't have CofO...most even built on the wrong places on the Master plan. Those classified illegal are being considered for compensation...

Dem for give them 1bullion van each abi🤡

How do you expect someone with legal documentation like CofO to be paid the same as an illegal occupant who's being considered out of compassionhuh Una no dey tink?

See that ftp 🤡 ranting about cost of building materials 🤣🤣🤣 is GSM responsible for the hike in cost of building materials huh..you don't know who to blame for that?

GSM is no saint but non of your gods can stand near him.

How did you arrive at the conclusion of 6million per victim, lemme guess

5.813bn divided by 900 properties, is that even realistic knowing all fingers aint equal,

let me quickly establish a fact, all the properties can't be of equal value or sizes therefore some will get more some will less, among the properties you will find shops or mud houses

This is robbery and absolute insult to the affected property owners.
1st you dont have the net worth of the affected properties in an ancient ibadan and you already concluded is day light robbery is that not ridiculous, lastly google the meaning of " compensation"

Half won't get up to 6m. Some big houses will get above 6m based on evaluation and some govt officials will still cut corners to eat from the money.

The most important thing is the illegal Corridor acquisition Makinde need da to rethink his at stand on it. It won't work, is a daylight robbery which will cost Makinde his political future. You can't just wakeup and start claiming you've acquired land after we all knew the steps Ladoja took to acquire the 150m by 110km

This your comment is not very okay. There is one fact people fail to understand. I don't want to know how many millions you bought your land, all lands belong to the government. And when government wants to use it, especially for development, they pay compensation they don't buy.

In addition, remember that this circular road passes through undeveloped areas of oyo state where each plot of land in some of those places might not even be worth 700k.

Were you expecting the government to pay them 50 million Naira each?

You people need to think deeply before making comment on public forum like this.
Mr Man, how man place along the circular road will you get a land for 700k in Ibadan?
