Young adults of this generation take many risk especially drug/substance abuse that tends to predisposes them to big risk of having stroke or diabetic complications while thinking they are enjoying life. Now, you have heard it from the doctor's mouth. This is an invaluable piece of health awareness and assessment information. Thanks a lot to the OP. Mods please do the needful. Thanks! |

Another thing I noticed, it is so sad that we don't have enough CT scan/ MRI scan in some states in Nigeria. Someone will have a stroke and need a brain image and have to travel to another state. It is heartbreaking, many government don't prioritize stroke centers and imaging.Meanwhile the useless leadership in this nation all jet out abroad @the slightest health challenge to access these same CT and MRI facilities leaving the common man to die in the consulting clinics in our teaching hospitals. Imagine many of them not having functional CT or MRI machines |

People consume too much soft drink and it's a high risk of developing diabetes. I know some persons who take between two and four bottles of soft drink everyday claiming they engage in laborious work and so they sweat it out. I just laugh at their logic. |

Chijeep:I disagree… the problem is many don’t have food/nutrition awareness. We have the most variety of food, but we only chose to stick to the ones we know, without researching other healthy ones. Many western countries will kill for the types of organic vegetables we have here. |

Lack of exercise with too much sugar in one's body is dangerous....as much you can go for long walks. It starts with arm or leg pains and can decelerate from there. |

Racoon:What this person has said here is nothing but the truth very 100% correct many of us young people dont know it but we have high blood pressure and in some cases they avoid the symptoms and go along with it.. I am a living example of high blood pressure I never knew I had High blood pressure untill I went for medicals and I found out my readings were off the roof and one of the medical personnel asked me how am I still alive and breathing and the funny part is that I didnt feel any symptoms to show I have HBP Previously every morning when I wake up I already have my cana wrapped and a full cup of coffee before I start my day. But now I dont smoke or drink coffee anymore I dont drink carbonated drinks anymore I only drink zero sugar and not always what I drink more now is mostly more water as required by my doctor and I go in for checkup once a month and I have been placed on blood pressure medication. Firstly I was started on 5mg and now they up my dose to 10mg and I had to get a blood pressure readings mechine to check my readings everyday I use to have a reading of 189 but now its down to 120 and some times 130. We need to take out blood pressure seriously.
