This is what they're saying:

Soldiers are stationed in their communities, yet Fulani armed gangs launch successful attacks against them and slaughter their people. When they try to organize and defend themselves, that's when security forces show up to arrest and prosecute them. This is not the protection they need.

I watched a video where the resident were saying if they tell soldiers about an ongoing attack, the soldiers will tell them, they haven't receive the go ahead to engage the terrorists.

My question is, if they will have to wait till given the command to engage the terrorists, why then were they stationed there at the first place? Isn't it to face the terrorists when they attack? Isn't that a go ahead already?

They receive the go ahead when victims start mobilizing to defend themselves

Soldiers allow Fulanis to attack native villagers and show up after attacks or ambush villagers when chasing the Fulanis. It has even reduced 🤷🏿

I told somebody the moment I heard the attack in plateau state..I said ppl of plateau will retaliate and bandit will run...let military free the people of plateau, make military just turn small side eyes..u will see what they will do to bandits... This people no dey let outsiders divide them...as much as they are welcoming..don't take it for stupidity...

And I think they are right to evict the military from their land...if u employ a security at ur gate and u pay the dues..give him whr to rest and welcome him into ur home in exchange for protection...
If your properties still get stolen even in the presence of ur security...u should knw is either ur security is the thief or he's compromised...

The soldiers are there to stop the community from retaliating whenever they are killed. The soldiers look the other way when Fulani attack communities in Plateau, Benue and Taraba state but they are quick to mobilize against local communities in these states whenever they want to defend themselves.
For example in Yelwata, Benue state. Soldiers were present as Fulani went round killing people. The soldiers did nothing. You will never find a time where soldiers go into Fulani communities to disarm them but the moment local communities engage in self defense and try to buy arms, soldiers arrest them and call them gun runners.

Though the continue killings is very painful and unacceptable. But to me this attack on the military is not the solution it's like making the already bad situation a worse one.

if they couldn't use this same aggression to face bandits and terrorists but using it to destroy the limited power to protect them from and fight the criminals is very unwise.
The military too are also loosing their men to these insurgency.

The best is for the community leaders to engage the military authorities and the government on what they are going through and get assurance of both the military and the government of their prompt attention whenever they need it.
