This is mpape. It's the way it is because of the housing crisis occasioned by unreasonable rent in the Abuja municipal.
This place is strategically located and it's just some minutes drive to anywhere in the city center, but when they tell you they're there because of low rent, it's in comparison to what's obtainable in the city center. At the peak of it's time as the goto place to stay if you want somewhere close to town, a single room self contained apartment was around 250k. I'm talking about the time before the 2012 demolition scare. The population now is nothing compared to what we have then. Again, houses in this slumy side of mpape is only in relative to the Abuja municipal, not in comparison with what's obtainable in nnewi or ibadan.
