Sokoto Lawmaker, Ibrahim Lamido Formerly Dumps APC, To Join ADC by SlavaUkraini(op): 7:18am On Apr 26
The lawmaker representing Sokoto East Senatorial District in the upper legislative chamber, Senator Ibrahim Lamido has formerly resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a letter dated April 22, 2026 and addressed to the APC Chairman in Isa South Ward, Isa Local Government Area of the state, the lawmaker cited persisting internal leadership crisis in the state chapter of the ruling party as reason for his decision.

The decision, according to him, was not “taken lightly”, stressing that the “ongoing internal party crisis, suspicion and unfair party leadership style within the party in Sokoto State has made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my membership in good conscience”.

The lawmaker added that the “persistent divisions, lack of cohesion, and unresolved disputes have significantly hindered the progress and unity that the party once stood for.

“I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served and contributed to the party during my time as a member. I wish the party well in its efforts to overcome its present challenges and move forward in unity”.

DAILY POST gathered that Senator Lamido is set to pick the membership card of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Are you minding these Tinubu supporters with their nonsense propaganda?

All the indices that Peter Obi is better than Tinubu in governance is there for all to see even in character, but logic, intelligence, common sense needs to be thrown away to support Tinubu.

Una din start again.... oga cool down..... every governor has thier achievement but when una begin to add vanilla flavour hmmm. We'll. This the fact I found out about what you wrote.

Short answer: that list is a mix of facts, exaggerations, and some claims that are disputed or not verifiable. Peter Obi did have a reputation for fiscal discipline and reforms, but not everything on that list is fully accurate as stated.
Here’s a clearer, fact-checked breakdown:
✅ Generally TRUE (but sometimes overstated)
Debt reduction & savings:
Obi is widely credited with improving Anambra’s finances. He reduced debt and left significant savings (often reported around ₦30–₦70 billion plus some foreign currency). The exact figures vary depending on the source.
Investment in education:
Anambra performed very well in WAEC/NECO rankings during his tenure. His administration supported schools (including mission schools).
Healthcare & education projects:
He built and upgraded hospitals and schools, though the exact numbers (e.g., 178 PHCs, 18 general hospitals) are likely inflated.
Security improvement:
He worked with security agencies and community leaders to reduce crime, especially compared to the period before his tenure.
Frugal lifestyle image:
He was known for modest personal style (e.g., simple cars), though the specific “406 and Innoson only” claim is more symbolic than strictly documented.
⚠️ PARTLY TRUE / NEEDS CONTEXT
“No contractor or worker was owed”
Not fully verifiable. Governments typically have ongoing obligations, though he may have reduced arrears.
“Cleared ₦36 billion debt”
He restructured and reduced debt, but whether it was fully “cleared” is debated.
“Built Government House”
He completed and moved into a Government House, but the project had a history before him.
“Brewery employing 3000”
Obi attracted investments (like SABMiller in Onitsha), but job figures like 3000 are likely exaggerated.
“Didn’t award contracts to family” / “wife had no influence”
These are reputation-based claims, hard to independently verify fully.
❌ UNCERTAIN / LIKELY EXAGGERATED
Exact number of hospitals/PHCs (18 + 178)
No strong public records confirming those exact figures.
“Obasanjo stayed 1 week in Onitsha because of peace”
Olusegun Obasanjo did visit Anambra, but this specific story is not well documented.
“Invited anti-graft to audit before leaving”
Not widely confirmed in official records.
“Worked as SEC chairman without pay”
There’s no solid evidence he served as SEC chairman; this claim is incorrect.
🟢 Widely ACCEPTED ABOUT HIS TENURE
Focus on saving money and limiting borrowing
Emphasis on education and human capital
Encouragement of private-sector investment
Reputation for less flashy governance compared to peers
Bottom line
That list is political messaging, not a clean historical record.
Peter Obi did perform relatively well in fiscal management and reforms, but:
Some achievements are real but exaggerated
Some are partly true but simplified
A lot are unproven or false
