He deceived only those who were not paying attention...and the 'ethnocentrists' and religious zealots. Now we are all paying the price for their error.

The way Nigerians grumble about tax, it is obvious they want the government to borrow and keep on borrowing more money.

I remember when Emefiele introduced bank charges under Jonathan. People grumbled people complained. People like me, who did not like PDP saw the sense in it...oil prices were begining to drop and we needed to reduce dependency on oil. Or the time when there were parking taxes in Abuja. People grumbled, people complained, someone went to court in 2013 and got it removed...and Abuja has had a funding problem since then.

I don't like tinubu, but ladies and gentlemen, even if we commot corruption, we still got to make far more money than we are making now....and that's cold reality.

If it was Obi in power and doing this, I will still support him. This is not about politics, it's about being fiscally responsible...and realizeing that we cannot live on oil and selling resources alone.

Lol.

Bat wants Nigerians to pay for goods and services at the same rate as developed countries.

He wants to introduce tax polices similar to developed countries.

Fine. Approve wages that are commensurate to those same developed nations. No. That is when he starts speaking grammar.

Nigerians, 2027 general elections around the corner...
Lol. They would tell us price of petrol is cheapest in Nigeria than in Europe and America.
But they wouldn't tell us the fact that every working European can afford the price of petrol and have excess to save for yearly holidays after paying rent or mortgage.

BREAKING NEWS: Starting July 1, 2026, Nigeria 🇳🇬 will introduce a new "green tax" surcharge on vehicles with high-capacity engines (2,000cc and above) as part of the 2026 fiscal policy measures. This tax aims to encourage cleaner energy by placing a 2%–4% levy on high-emission vehicles, while smaller vehicles, mass transit, and electric vehicles are exempted.

A country with only 16 million registered vehicles most of it old and beat because the cost of a new vehicle is 25x the average annual income. Nigeria is governed by moɍons.
Lol, these are what the Europeans asked him to do o. Everything he is doing, starting from fuel, naira floating, tax, they told him. He dances to their music, i dont know what they hold on him though. That must be big. No other president in naija history has danced to European interest as much as this man. We must chase him out else he will finish us all in his second term

you have a head, use it. What are high emissions vehicles? Trucks, tankers, trailers and big bodied vehicles mostly used transport of general goods etc. And people like you would think, a truck owner /driver would pay tax and not add it to the cost of transporting yam from taraba state to Lagos and yes, na de ordinary poor Nigerians go still suffer and pay the tax indirectly .

Errmmmmm, you somehow assume that the people to pay this tax are people with access to the national resources? That's critical thinking? So they'd take national resources to pay into national resources. SMH

This is smart, a smart government can make money in ways that it won't affect the common man or affect mobilisation of funds, the mass populace must have disposal income, to enable investment, savings, buoyancy of the economy, money must circulate, this can happen when the basis things like fuel, electricity, and removal of taxes from small business and individuals.

Even someone without much upstairs wouldn't comment like this. So you didn't know that the tax would trickle down to users of public transport? Also, logistical costs will increase and up the prices of goods
