People of Mali did not exit ECOWAS, the coupist did.

Their reason: The military juntas termed the ECOWAS sanctions imposed on them as "illegal," "inhumane," and "irresponsible".
what is wrong with you ? Is it people of Mali that attends Ecowas meeting or the president that either selects or attend the meeting as Mali representative?

Ok has people of Mali attended Ecowas meeting since then since they’re not the one that exited?

The population of Mali is 100% behind the Military government and the population wanted to exit ECOWAS that they perceive as a Western puppet organisation
How do u know, are you Malian 🇲🇱?

Ok, accepted u are from Bamako, but choose to spend the majority of your time in a Nigerian forum?

This is what Peter Obi and his headless mobs truly wish for our beautiful nation.

Camara was a central figure in the military government that seized power after back-to-back coups in 2020 and 2021.

I knew something very dramatic will take place in those rogue military coupist-led states since they gleefully announced their ecowas exit.

They lost the Nigeria-ECOWAS protection because of the personal ambition of their coup leaders and are now being cannibalized by their more powerful adversaries.

Bammako has fallen.

Burkina Faso and Niger coupists are in hiding. Their countries record failed coups almost every month and their coupist leaders rule from seclusion.

Democracy, in spite of its challenges, give more citizens opportunity to participate in bringing peace and development to their nation.

Since the coupists violently took over in Burkina Faso, Niger and Mali, peace and progress took flight! They have no legitimacy to exercise Presidental powers.

What development has democracy brought to Nigeria?
What do u call peace? Is it the stability of the looters or the stability of the citizens? If u say for the looters such as Nigerian leaders and their families, oh, yes, they enjoy peace. But if u talk of the citizens, no let Benue, Jos, Zamfara, Borno, and practically almost all rural ares of nigeria are not enjoying peace. Thousands that die par year in Nigeria is more than those who die in Ukrain. So, what security are u talking about?
Security for the looter class? yes.

Are you happy that those who carried out the attack were successful? Just because the 3 Sahel countries are no longer members of ECOWAS.. Quite surprising.

Remember that we are also battling similar threats in Nigeria too, and the more they become successful in those neighbouring countries is the more they get emboldened to do same in Nigeria.

But for Nigeria and our Galant President and our formidable Nigerian Armed Forces, Benin Republic with our Yoruba kith and kin, may have joined the unfortunate bloc of countries led by impostors and coupists.

God bless Nigeria, President Tinubu and our Armed Forces.
So Nigeria that cannot stop terrorists in kwara state have been the ones protecting mali?

Interesting

Bamoko will not fall. They have their reasons for existing the ECOWAS.
Technically you are right and he too is right. Due to you guys arguing these what I found out.

the reality in Mali is more mixed than “people are happy so they fully support the military.”
After the coups in 2020 and 2021, led by figures like Assimi Goïta, many Malians initially welcomed the military. Why? Mainly because there was deep frustration with the previous civilian government—corruption, insecurity, and failure to deal with jihadist violence had made people lose trust.
So yes, in the beginning:
There were public demonstrations supporting the military.
Some citizens saw them as a chance for a reset.
Anti-foreign (especially French) sentiment also boosted support for the junta.
But that doesn’t mean universal or permanent happiness. Over time:
Security has not significantly improved in many regions.
Economic conditions remain difficult.
Political freedoms have been restricted (media pressure, delays in returning to civilian rule).
Support today is divided:
Some still back the military, especially those who distrust politicians or external influence.
Others are increasingly frustrated but may not openly protest due to restrictions.
Regarding Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS):
ECOWAS imposed sanctions on Mali after the coups, which hurt the economy and angered many citizens.
This made ECOWAS unpopular among parts of the population, feeding the idea that it “has nothing to offer.”
However, ECOWAS’ role is to push for democratic governance, not necessarily to provide immediate economic relief.
So in simple terms:
Yes, some Malians support the military and cooperate with them.
No, it’s not accurate to say all “good people of Mali” are happy.
And ECOWAS is unpopular in Mali right now, but saying it has “nothing to offer” depends on perspective—its focus is political stability and democracy, not short-term popularity.

This is another bad news. Al-Qaeda’s JNIM + Tuareg FLA rebels will never win over a serious country like Mali. They will be wiped out completely soon.

May Allah be pleased with your soul General Sadio Camara.

Are they not supposedly championing your god's cause? 😮‍💨

It's easy for your average millitat group to get weapons....all you got to do is to do a few raids, kill people, kidnap and get a ransom, and there is money for the weapons.

USA Is not funding al qaeda...any funding comes from front organisations that misrepresent themselves as aid groups, who then direct the money to the armed group.

You guys should stop blaming thwe west. all our leaders since independence,be it mali, be it Nigeria, ran their countries as money sharing empires. None of those leaders thought about preparing their people for the world of productivity. The result is what we see.

Also, army takeover does something that messes security up. The new army ruler is going to withdraw soldiers, especially special forces who have the best experience fighting the jihadis...from the front to act as presidential guard. That is how the Malian army has been weakened by army rule. (That's why a lot of Nigerian army officers over the decades don't like army rule either...soldiers are supposed to focus on defence, and trying to do defence and government is not exactly a easy balancing act)

The above is what happened in Mali...twice.

Finally, for decades, the Black majority in Mali was racist and discriminated against the Turaegs.Guess who is joining and helping AlQaeda in their fight. That's right...turaeg armed rebels, who have been fighting for decades. Guess none of the Malian governments thought about fixing that.

Very poor country with even poorer citizens.

cheesy

This is the kind of provocative talk that other Nigerians are then forced to spend valuable time clarifying or debunking or explaining away or God knows what else. Perhaps it's a national trait. After all, your president recently made a completely unnecessary reference to what he saw as 'hard' living conditions in Kenya and other African countries - compared to Nigeria. Naturally, that has sparked strong reactions from those countries and some of our neighbours. And all for what? undecided

We have no business mocking the poverty of other countries and their citizens. If anyone thinks this people of this country are 'rich', a simple web search will cure that delusion fast. When we have climbed out of the poverty trap - then we can talk about others.

You mention Ibadan? cheesy The same Ibadan or another one? grin
