PDPGuy:If you set the price at $1 million how many foolish rich men in the world do you think would be needed to make significant impact. It is more impactful in small countries. A few dozen of those passports can transform an island nation. We will need thousands if not tens of thousands. |

https://www.nairaland.com/8661664/dangote-donates-550-million-futo This is massive in so many ways I can’t even count. This made my day! Thank you Dangote, we will never forget. While I have a glimmer of hope because this is happening during the tenure of the distinguished Prof. Nnenna Oti, I desperately hope Dangote has put a strong system to ensure funds are not embezzled or diverted. |

PDPGuy:Na the pretentious seal wey get me. Nigerians and delusions of grandeur. Small money and the guy is feeling dynastic and people are kissing his arse telling him his fart smell like roses, which is how this foolish beer parlour comment got turned into a proposal flier In a corrupt country like Nigeria as a foreigner you do not need a passport to get anything done. In countries like dubai there was (think they have stopped now) a law that any foreign run business should have 50% local ownerhip. Laws as simple as local content in the oil and gas industry are violated all the time, so what exactly are the benefits that having a Nigerian passport will do for business in Nigeria? Maybe he is using Lebanese as a case study because a lot of them are fully naturalised and they have cornered multiple industries in Naija |

Roland17:I really wish the funds will be used to actually enhance education solely. If dem build hostel inside 550 million, how much go remain? Make students sort their hostel issues, but make machines, equipments and all that is very essential for education and research be made available I was also grateful when a church donated and MRI machine worth $1 million to Abia state government. Our Government would rather build 300 room hospital with only bed and AC, than buy these machines. So make dem kuku give them the machines, make dem go build the infrastructure. |

I'm happy to see someone share the same thoughts with me. The kind of nonsense I see on SM these days has to be funny. You go to China and find a closed market. Instead of buying, fixing your margin and making your profit, you decide to set camera and tell your followers what you found, and how much they can sell it in Nigeria. Now, Chinese are trooping massively into Nigeria. From Panels, Clothes, bags, etc, they have bypassed you and are bringing it to Nigerians cheaper. We too do, to be honest!

GloriousGbola:Baba, the whole thing is funny. In my corporate Nigeria experience which is way above a decade, I have been in rooms with foreign nationals (Lebanese, Indians and even Jews) who are more powerful than some influential Nigerians sef. They get things done around here without giving a flying 4ck about our green passport. Most of these guys' business thrive on enslaving Nigerians in their own country and institutionalizing apartheid system in this same Nigeria. It may sound hard to believe but it is happening till date. Our labor laws don't protect their Nigerian employees and our FG still go further to grant them tax rebate and free trade zone status without giving a 4ck about the condition of service of their Nigerian employees. Even when the Nigerian employees form a trade union to mount pressure on the foreign business owners to improve their working conditions, a Nigerian political office holder who has received bribes from these foreign nationals will come and tell the staff to cut the crap and be grateful they even have a job to start with. Sorry I digress, but a Nigerian "golden passport" for $5m is not attractive to a potential investor who aims at doing business in line with global best practices in Nigeria. Only wicked investors will be attracted by the offer and they will make their Nigerian employees see shege for their investment to yield ROI. |

izzou:The first law of Stupidity propounded by Cipolla in his work titled "The basic laws of human stupidity" says: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation Then his 4th law of stupidity further says: Non-stupid people always underestimate the damaging power of stupid individuals. In particular non-stupid people constantly forget that at all times and places and under any circumstances to deal and/or associate with stupid people infallibly turns out to be a costly mistake. This is the case of Nigeria; I see it playing out already and it will definitely culminate into Tinubu getting re-elected. I mean tell me why anyone will see the insecurity we have suffered under this government , the number of people who have been thrown below the poverty line and how bad the power situation has gotten under this administration and we have people saying they do everything within their power to give this government a return ticket. |

izzou:Been seeing the complaints from suppliers and vendors on TikTok, especially the dragging of the paramount lady but I kinda think it was inevitable and the natural direction of things especially with increased internet access, and better supply chains and logistics. As globalization takes hold, gatekeeping information by wholesalers became more difficult. Throw in cheap internet access and the monetization of social media, and everything kpafuka. Now, a retailer and a wholesaler have access to the same Chinese manufacturers and suppliers. Social media especially TikTok, Instagram and Facebook were the death knell. Clout entered business, attention became currency and people began creating content not just to sell but to chase views and engagements. So instead of protecting supply chains, logistics methods and routes, they let out industry and trade secrets Another thing, the Chinese are astute business people, and are always looking to expand to new markets. They have access to data and can crunch the numbers. Nigeria with its huge 250 million people with a youth population of 140 - 160 milion is a huge market that cannot be ignored. Also, we are increasingly shopping online. Go on aliexpress, Temu and other international e-commerce sites. You are guaranteed to see feedback/reviews from Nigerian buyers on popular products. The Chinese would have studied our buying patterns and made their sales projections before coming to set up here. Bottom line, Chinese suppliers coming to set up shop in Nigeria no be because Nigerians leak trade secrets. It was inevitable and bound to happen. And make we talk true, if your business depends on hiding your supply source and inflating prices, the internet will expose you one day. Sellers need to adapt by giving competitive prices, and execute better. Talking about execution, I placed an order yesterday for a Qasa Pro 5 Heavy Duty Blender from a Lagos based vendor I met on TikTok, and this morning at 11am, I got a call to come pick my order. This is the fastest I have received an order in all my years of buying from Jiji, Konga, Jumia, IG and TikTok vendors. How she take run am? She delivers to the East via Night bus arrangement so next day delivery is guaranteed. Na the adaptation and execution wey I dey talk be this.
