An update on the above post. So I switched on my router this morning and saw that I could browse with it. I had switched off my router after my subscription had ended and service was restored . I had been checking my fibreX dashboard to see if they have compensated me for the down time and up until this morning it was still saying that I had no ongoing plan and that my wallet was zero, because I had called customer care to request for a compensation of down time which amounted to 21days and the lady I spoke to had told me that I'll see the credit on my dash board when I'm compensated. So mtn has compensated me after all without my knowledge
Yes that’s how it works, the compensation doesn’t show on your dashboard but the lost days have been returned
Enjoy!

I must confess, FibreX services at my end has been really impressive for over a month now, I haven't experienced any downtime at all. I truly hope they can keep it up. I'm making this comment because I feel people are quick to complain when the service is poor so it's also nice to commend them when the service is good.

My experience with MTN FibreX.

In January 2026 I saw the Fibre cable in my area and was happy that I finally have it right outside my gate.

I enquired and found out that Sabi Networks owned the FAT close to my home, but an engineer claimed it belonged to MTN and eventually defrauded me of 20k.

I got connected to a salesperson who assisted me with making the payment. An installation technician came around and confirmed that my street was not powered.

Fast forward to March, and I saw a team of technicians working on a box-shaped device (images attached) right outside my gate. When asked, they said they were working for MTN and that they had come to fix some errors and power up the MTN FibreX setup in my street that same day.

So, this month April 2026, I checked the MTN app and boom💥 my street was listed. I made a payment for the installation of the FibreX device in my home but the technicians could not onboard me because my area was not powered, and there were no FATs belonging to MTN in my street. The FATs found on my street belonged to another internet service provider.

My question is this, why list my street on the App if it's not powered? What kind of frustration is this. And it's not like payments are reversed in 24 hours, yet they keep misleading Nigerians into paying for a service they will never receive.

What do I do if the nearest fibre X Pole to the house where I need the installation is far. For instance about 300 Meters.

Do not make any payment until the poles/connection are close to your gate. I had the same issue around January and got my refund in April.

This fiberX thing is a serious scam. They installed it for me
I used only for two days.
Since then I've not been able to use it.

Have you contacted them via 217 or through email via the fibrex hub?
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by determination26(m): 9:39pm On Apr 30
Maybe you should try contacting them on 217. Another thing I found that works like magic is calling them out on X/Twitter and tagging NCC, you will be attended to ASAP and the issue resolved in no time. There has been no single downtime in my area for the past two months. Concerning Internet issues, to me, FibreX is the next best thing since sliced bread...lol. My kids are fully entertained without bothering about data depletion, it's freaking fast and my GoTv decoder has become redundant.

Also this is how mtn FAT are shaped and look like
I have one of these on a pole that's 2 buildings away from mine. The installation technicians checked it, confirmed that it was powered, but that it doesn't belong to MTN.

The reason why I attached the image of that box-shaped thing is because that was what the engineers were working on when they told me they were installing MTN FibreX infrastructure in my area, and then they went on to say that it would be powered same day.

I checked the MTN app after that, and my street that was previously not listed as a FibreX coverage area was now listed. But after my encounter and complaints, they have gone ahead to delist my street on the app.

Very useless service from MTN, my router has been down for over one week and I've been calling 217 still no reasonable response.

Log into the router dashboard, you should be able to see it there.

Which of the routers do you have?

Mine is ZTE, and it has its own portal address (https://192.168.1.1/)

Someone with HUAWEI should help you out

Please who can recommend a very good fiber X power bank and how much. Also, how long does it last.
Re: MTN FibreX - Installation, Speed Tests, Availability, And All You Need To Know by determination26(m): 10:13pm On May 08
I used an Oraimo 20000mah power bank with my router, and, on a full charge it will last you the whole 24 hours and then some. I recently did a solar setup so I don't use it anymore. Get the Oraimo power bank, follow the instructions for first usage and it will last you a very long time

Is it the normal oraimo power bank because I have it. What else do I get for it?

Yes, it's the normal Oraimo power bank. Get a USB to DC 12v wire. You should get it at areas where phones and phone accessories are sold
