Nigeria’s military backs local startup unveiling drones, mine-clearing vehicles

Nigerian defense-tech startup Terra Industries unveiled its latest autonomous defense systems including interceptor drones, mine-detection vehicles and battlefield intelligence software.

Terra had until now focused on civilian drones and other security equipment.

Terra CEO Nathan Nwachukwu said, "We ‌are unveiling new defence systems such as our interceptor UAVs, our minesweepers, ground vehicles that can detect IEDs on the ground, and our battlefield intelligence software."

Major General Babatunde Alaya, who heads Nigeria's state-run military-industrial corporation DICON, said collaboration with Terra Industries was necessary given high troop casualties from improvised explosive devices.

Very good, our loved ones should not die in a war where one time Nigeria President said
" A fight against Boko Haram is a fight against the North ".

This is awesome. I love the compact nature...built for Nigeria or Africa rugged terraines. Can it enter into water? I am not so sure about the mine-detection...we need mine resistant armored tanks that cannot be blown from the bottom... or we get used to clearing the forest to make new roads to engage these mad people.

Re: Terra Industries Nigeria Unveils Drones, Mine-Detecting Vehicles by MasterTeeUSA: 2:47pm On Apr 28
They should be building inside these vehicles self destructive mechanisms, so if they are captured, they can blow them or deactivate them.

What do unserious people deserve as leaders, if not looters who take them for granted and steal their commonwealth that should employ workers to make government services and utilities available for everyone.
Basic things like water supply.

It is by far better than Enugu.

500 gallons of water go for N20k. Multiply by 4 in a month, that's N80k. By extrapolation, that's N960k in a year on water alone. Why? Because the governor believes that clean and accessible water is the least of his worries. Yet they prance around like Enugu is Abuja even though the red muddy soil will have residents looking like they went tomb-raiding at night.

But then, considering where it was before Peter Mba, one can understand the accolades being that he moved the town from 16th Century to 17th Century but not anywhere near 20th Century. 21st Century is a stretch. EEDC? The worst of all.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”

While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.

He said, “On waste water treatment, I will say that everyone digging borehole within the Lekki axis is probably drinking what I will call ‘shit water.’

Good development, instead of spending millions or billions of dollars to procure expensive military hardware from US, make we patronize our own.
