It really was a bad move not putting his money where his mouth was as a man of collective ideology. How does he expect others to follow through when he himself already declared openly he is not going to fund the means of his own election with his own capital. Besides politics, that is just bad investment for anyone to stand behind.

Contrary to popular belief, Obi actually got the SE votes locked down based on immense sentimental value that General Ojukwu placed on him while he was still with APGA. It was not of his own volitions. He managed the state saved money but he left without no visible monumental impact on developing the state, improving standard of living or any infrastructure to point to. It is like that precious proverb in the bible where the master travelled and gave his attendants some talents.

While still operating from the basis of the Igbos being shut off from national participations, he Obi then again rode on the SE sentiments of having a leading voice at the national level. Well received then as he was, he rode that train until he chose to betray or in simple term spat on the status quo faces and launched his own personal ambition which irrevocably has led to his present predicament. Atiku wanted him to stay within the PDP vehicle and bring them back to power, and hand over to him before these whole APC dominance, yet again he refused and wanted to ride on his own.

The reality is people see him now. And they see him as a lightweight merely riding on the emotional rollercoaster of the SE. And serious people are trying to make it clear they are not opposing a South Easterner being in the national participations and contributing their quota in the highest office but it doesn't necessarily have to be this man. Even the present VP, a core Northerner said this openly..

Opposing him Obi is politically justifiable because he has always rode on other people's wing and not the volitions of his own making. The ones that got the message from the SE are already making plans, after 31, it's an automatic VP slot for SE, that's if Atiku didn't win this election which seems a long shot. But even at that, eventuality will roll it's dice and comes the SE presidency, and if things continues this way it won't be him.

He is not a team player. The devastating condition he left LP with didn't only say much but really showed his character and political experience. LP was suppose to be the bridge for the new voice from SE/SS/Middle Belt and a portion of the SW even after they have looked past his betrayal to APGA. With the LP vehicle, a very serious man and a dedicated contender would have seen that and consolidated that enormous vehicle.
Obi is in one way or the other subliminally telling Nigerians he is a political fluke. And that has never been pronounced more in anyway than the decline of the Obedient movement who by the way now are just filled with emotional tantrum throwers screaming everyday Obi or nothing.
