The effects of the increase in fuel prices on all airlines worldwide are drastic.
Even KLM has canceled many flights worldwide. Many other Airlines are now barely surviving.

The Orange PDF buffoon clown is a disaster to the US economy and world standing.
Can't wait to vote against anyone who supports the convicted felon.
You people should grow up and stop childish discussions. Spirit airlines has been having liquidity issues before now, so this your talk no gell at all, stop pushing false narratives and face Nigeria's issues.

It’s truly disheartening to hear about Spirit Airlines’ struggles and the eventual decision to wind down their operations. The ripple effects of rising jet fuel costs, particularly in the wake of the Iran conflict, have clearly taken a heavy toll on the carrier. It’s a tough blow for both the airline’s employees and its passengers, especially those who might have made plans relying on upcoming flights.

The automatic refund process for customers who booked directly is a small consolation, but for those who booked through travel agents or used vouchers, it might take some time to sort things out. It's unfortunate that the airline isn't in a position to cover additional costs related to canceled trips, further complicating matters for affected travelers.

Analysts had indicated that Spirit was already in a precarious situation prior to the fuel crisis, and it sounds like the necessary changes to ensure long-term survival weren’t robust enough. It’s a critical reminder of how external factors can heavily influence businesses, especially in the airline sector.

As passengers are left to deal with this situation, it’s clear that the fallout will be felt for some time, both personally and within the broader industry. The mention of European fuel shortages adds an extra layer of concern, highlighting how interconnected the aviation world is, and how quickly things can change. It’s a reminder of the ongoing challenges facing airlines in a turbulent economic climate.

Face Nigerian issues? Are all the political clowns in the US just facing US issues? Are they not more concerned about Nigerian issues than crimes that are happening in their own districts? Doesn't Cancun Cruz care more about the Nigerian issues than the issues in his own district?
BTW, I'm a Nigerian American, hence I can face US and Nigerian issues. It's None of ya, whatever I decide to face.
If Trump had faced just US issues instead of trying to poke his nose into other countries' affairs, we wouldn't be where we are now.
Give that advice to Trump instead of me.
Spirit, like all other Airlines have been having issues except for Delta, which is very solid financially.
What finally killed Spirit is the exponential increase in the cost of Jet Fuel. It will still kill many more airlines.
Anyone with an ounce of sense knows what led to the exponential increase in the cost of jet fuel.
Ostriches like you should bury their heads in the sand. I'm sure that you haven't grown up yet, because you would have known better than to post this empty diatribe.

Smh. Why should the government bail out a failed private company? If they can’t agree to the terms, they were not serious.

Serves them right! A very useless airline. Poor customer care or support. Ever since I lost 2 luggage items in January 2024 and was never compensated. . . .I prayed for their downfall.

Gooooooood RIDDDDDDDDDANCE!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's so surprising that people are not blaming the US president for this but let's assume it was a Nigerian airline that winds down like this, your guess is as mine.

I have never flown Spirit before but damn i do feel bad for the workers
I had a bad experience with them once and I swore never to fly them again.

The gate agent just told me I could not board for no reason. I kept asking her why and she eventually said I was preventing her from doing her work.

I then told her I pray that she does not let me board and miss my an important meeting for the next day.

Then she will not only loose her job but I will be compensated by the company through the courts.

I said this and calmly went to sit down. That was when she came back to her senses.

Nasty customer service. Always claiming people bags are too big to go in the cabin just to force them pay for luggage fees they did not plan

Re: Spirit Airlines Shuts Down by ttmacoy: 11:12pm On May 02
What does it have to do with Trump? Spirit has been struggling for a while and even Biden considered bailing them out and declined. Trump also considered it and other airlines considered buying them out.

The US aviation industry is fine and booming, see the results of the likes of American and United lol

United Airlines (UAL) reported a strong first quarter 2026, with revenue increasing 10.6% to $14.61 billion, driven by robust travel demand. Net income surged 80% to $699 million, or $2.14 per share, significantly exceeding the previous year's performance. Despite higher fuel costs, the company saw strong premium and business travel revenue, marking its highest-revenue first quarter ever.Financial Highlights (Q1 2026)Total Operating Revenue: $14.61 billion, a 10.6% increase year-over-year.

American Airlines reported $12.6 billion in revenue for the first quarter of 2025. This performance was driven by continued strength in international unit revenue and growth in premium and loyalty revenue, despite facing economic uncertainties impacting domestic leisure demand.

I think you have bigger issues with Air Peace and the fact you can't even grow a national airline 😂. Spirit had less than 3% is the market share.

Re: Spirit Airlines Shuts Down by Richcreed(m): 8:02am On May 03
After 34 years, the low‑cost airline is shutting down "effective immediately." 277 flights canceled. 17,000 employees out of work.

🤡 Trump is winning so much, his imposed war just grounded an entire airline.
