Armed Robbers Storm Gadgets Store in Asaba, Loot Phones and Laptops in Brazen Daylight Heist

Asaba, Delta State–

Chilling CCTV footage has emerged showing the moment armed men stormed a popular electronics and gadgets shop in Asaba, Delta State, carting away valuable items in a swift and coordinated operation.

The incident, captured on the store’s surveillance cameras at MG MagCart Gadgets on Saturday, May 2, 2026, shows several men entering the shop appearing as ordinary customers. Moments later, they brandished handguns, taking control of the premises as terrified staff and customers were forced to comply.

According to the footage, the robbers moved with precision through the well-stocked store. They targeted display cases filled with smartphones — including prominent iPhone branding — laptops, and other high-value electronics. Items were quickly removed from shelves and packed into bags while one or more armed members kept watch over those present. A woman in a pink dress and other individuals inside the store can be seen navigating the tense situation as the thieves operated.

The entire operation, which lasted roughly two minutes on camera, ended with the suspects exiting the premises with their loot. No casualties were visible in the footage, but the psychological and financial impact on the business owner has been severe.

The shop owner later stormed a local police station in visible distress, lamenting that this was the third time his store had been robbed. “How many times will they rob me? I’m finished. All my millions are gone,” he cried, describing the repeated attacks as devastating to his livelihood. “Nigerians, I’m tired. They have finished me in Asaba.”

Residents and social media users have expressed outrage over the incident, with many highlighting the growing boldness of criminals in the area. Questions have also been raised about the effectiveness of CCTV systems when not paired with live monitoring or rapid response mechanisms. Some observers pointed to individuals wearing caps — a common tactic to evade clear identification — as potential red flags.

This latest robbery adds to concerns about security and the rising wave of commercial-targeted crimes in parts of Delta State. Police have not yet released an official statement on arrests or recovery of the stolen items as of this report.

Business owners in the region are now calling for urgent intervention, better policing, and enhanced security measures to protect lives and properties amid what many describe as an escalating threat.

This is just too brazen. Since Face caps can't be banned to authenticate identification they will be going about repeating it to other gadget stores

May be, they too are almajiri because the perception of my southerners if this kind of things happened in the north will be that it is because they were born plenty with no education by their family, that Islam is terrorism. Hypocrisy. Nobody talks about the religion of these armed robbers now.

Even though some of your points are valid, it feels insensitive coming at this time - the sympathy should be with the shop owners and the poor girls put thru trauma
